You might just recognise this sample...

Post by TCW_UK » Thu Mar 08, 2012 6:41 pm

I really don't see what Duck Sauce did with this track when they sampled it. Seems they just chopped out 2 parts, looped them, new drums and one of their own vocals...

But anyway, an interesting find...

Anyone else considering getting a pimp outfit and some steel drums now?

Rip-offs like this are lame, but it's so common (and to be fair some good music is made) that it's hard to get too upset about it. I just hope they are well credited for writing 99% of the new tune.

New version is still a good track, just annoying how much I loved that song then realized it was mostly sampled :(

And yeah, I want an afro too

I know what you mean. It just seems a bit hollow, there's an endless stream of Daft Punks who just take a hook out of an old track, don't even bother changing, then add some drums and it's a hit. Seems cheap.

Kind of gutted when I found this, for example. http://www.whosampled.com/sample/view/1 ... My%20Head/ Probably my favourite Amon Tobin track, it's only a couple of bars but it makes up his whole track basically.

Its like the op has never been exposed to modern music before, everything is a sample of something and has been for about thirty years lol.

I understand a lot of stuff is sampled, this just surprised me :P

Also, I love hip-hop to whoever said that :)

Yeah...................

I like the hip-hop where they, y'know, do stuff with the samples. Which is most of it.

It's a fine line, but there's taking something you like and building something around/on top of it side, and then there's the copy + paste side to it. I don't know if your post was entirely serious, I guess this going to be another elitist-magnet of a thread.

Always knew it was a sample, but i thought it might have just been the oooh woo oooh wooo wooo wooo wooo woo woo woo oooh bit.

let's be honest here, it's not like this original wouldn't torn up clubs either though, i think i almost prefer this version

semi-joking my friend. i don't know if it's elitist to only care about how a song sounds and not how it was conceived, but if so, i guess i am? weird to see that word again on this forum. feels like 07 again!
