50th Birthtday Thank you
After seeing the results for the latest "Age Poll" here on DSP I've come to the realization that I'm probably the eldest person to be a member here. that means a lot to me. especially coming from an analog rock world, My earliest music days where spent as a very young teddy boy, in the mid seventies, discovering Rockabilly, Doo wop, Cajun/Zydeco. Country, and R'N'B, The first Vinyl albums I bought where Bo Diddley ,Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, And Muddy Waters, Followed closely by, Early Elvis, Gene Vincent,Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Etc.
i then moved on to 60's Garage, Soul, Ska, and eventually 60's electronica,
During my late Teans/ early twenties, i was out every weekend dancing to mad music from bygone years because nothing else sounded as good as those old records, i mean, stuff from the "Sun" "Atlantic" or"Chess, Studios, Plus many other memorable mentions such as Starday, and King, Blew my mind, Personally I Hated That Overproduced 80's Synth sound of my youth, still hate it to this day, there are so many albums recorded in the 80's, that personally i wish, were recorded a decade later,
But still I had an itch to scratch
My earliest musical memories where of tunes like Popcorn by Hotbutter, and Television Program Sound Effects, and Themes, especially the Dr Who theme, and anything that came out of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Delia Derbyshire is such an influence.
I have a vinyl collection that people would die for, I have music from every decade of recorded sound
I could drone on forever about how music has affected my life, and get all grown up,
But i suppose the real message from me, is a massive THANK YOU, to all the contributors to this forum, because Personally I have learned so much, So far, coming from no experience, I have never had to ask a single question, because all the answers are here, I've learned to utilize my DAW, Create drum patterns, Synthesis Bass's, pads sweeps etc, How to do mix downs, even master recordings.
This forum for me is a ray of sunshine, and enlightenment, and that is down to you people
Again THANK YOU BTW I'm a little wasted
Today is my 50th Birthday, and yet I thank you for giving me the tools to explore myself even more.

You know, this is exactly why at 21 i stopped running around to bars doing stupid stuff and started teaching myself about music. I knew that later on down the road in life I would end up with a skillset INVALUABLE TO ME. Regardless of what others are doing or thinking, I can enjoy my work and explore the own self. My satisfaction no longer stems from those around me, but in building myself up.
Happy birthday brother and thanks for the constatnt reminder!

Soldier, maximum respect!
Maybe you should utilize that amazing record collection, and record a genre-and-generation-spanning mix of electronic music especially for DSF to say thanks?
