I'm making techno, a lot of broken stuff.
Re: Anyone else making Techno?
This sounds a lots of fun, will definitely be investing in some hardware in the future myself. You going to upload the outcome of this session pardigm?paradigm x wrote:Been having a load of fun doing tehcno recently, the oldschool way. No computers!
Saturday me and my mate got our bits together () and had a jam;
TR909 + TR606 + x0xb0x + Vermona DRM + Blofeld + RS7000 plus mixer and effects, sooooo much funRecorded down to 8 track zoom digital recorder.
Got some recordings done and also a vid, tidying them up at the mo.

Yeah, just doing a mixdown. Sound pretty good just rthu the desk.
Problem with the jams is they tend to end in long, meandering jams for 25 mins or so, always say youll go back and edit it but its so much easier just to turn the boxes back on again.
We did get one down to about 9 mins
with a vid as well, of our backs, lol.

Re: Anyone else making Techno?
Well, since you ask.
909 - £900 +£200 repairs. 909 was a gift from my wife
I paid to get it fixed. Cost me a lunch for two to get it delivered as well
606 - £200
Blofeld - free (gift from a bloke at work)
Zoom - £40
x0xb0x £500.
Oakley Filtrex2 - about £150 of parts, case etc, built myself.
vermona/rs7000/mixer/fx my mates, dunno.
Its been acquired over a few years - been doing music for 18 years or more so it adds up, buying, selling etc.
Ill post up some audio this weekend, hopefully.

Sounds good, when I see fit I'm going to start investing in hardware, I also hope to get a wife that will buy me a 909
Re: Anyone else making Techno?
Paradigm X that is such a sick setup.... Looking into the Blofeld myself, it seems like quite a fully loaded little box for the price. What's your opinion of the filters and the effects?
Re: Anyone else making Techno?
I love Techno! I remember when Frankie Bones, Reade Truth and Adam X were the shit! Wonder what ever happened to those dudes?
Re: Anyone else making Techno?
Well Adam X is running Sonic Groove still, based out of Berlin now. He's had a few EPs out. Bones still plays out too afaik, and he posts on discogs regularly. You can find him in the techno and drugs forum lol.Theo Void wrote:I love Techno! I remember when Frankie Bones, Reade Truth and Adam X were the shit! Wonder what ever happened to those dudes?

http://www.paradigmx.com/audio/sun-morning.mp3 - pretty decent, imnsho
http://www.paradigmx.com/audio/Slowahnandonforever.mp3 - example of one that goes on forever. some very nice bits tho, about 5 mins in til it goes slow, shows off what i love about all the live jams, me and a mate 'spurring each other one', that you just dont get with computers. ive spent years on pcs and theyre brilliant for so many things, but theres nothing like a real jam on some boxes. Remember these were literally done in one take, no edits, automation etc, prob shows. buzzing. going to do an edit when i get a moment.
i have loaded 8 tracks into cubase and literally just added a bit of eq, compression and reverb. the dubby fx were done live via mixer.
cheers

You got any tracks up anywhere? would like to check em out, just checked your soundcloud but could only see mixes.dublerium wrote:I'm making techno, a lot of broken stuff.
I really like the A Made Up Sound style of techno, but not found a great deal of similar stuff out there.
Re: Anyone else making Techno?
Those mixes are pretty old and arn't like what i'm making bar that szare track. I probably will put something up in the near future. I'm holding everything back at the moment though and haven't chosen to put it on the net, will do soon though for sure got a few things in the works currently.Praya wrote:You got any tracks up anywhere? would like to check em out, just checked your soundcloud but could only see mixes.dublerium wrote:I'm making techno, a lot of broken stuff.

A made up sound does have a unique take on things, but there's certainly more techno in a similar vein.
@Paradigm x , digging those tunes man 2nd one reminded me a bit of legowelt which can only mean good things.
