Well, it's tailored for a mac, so yes it runs well on a mac.
and yes, it's the complete shit. One of the main reasons that a lot of people don't use it is because it doesn't work on PC, and they want to work on a PC.
But yeah, DEFINITELY buy it...it's the shit

how Logic will run will be completely based on the specs inside the imac, what audio units and how many u got loaded in etc, also yes logic pro is the shit, but will it make better music? no.. ableton is also the shit, cubase is the shit, reaper reason is the shit, renoise and studio one is the shit..

Logic used to be a windows based DAW, don't know if you can legally get the platinum version though.

Yes. I won a macbook pro in the 'enterdubstep' competion that was advertised on here a while back. Bought logic straight away and love it. the whole user interface is incredible and easy to get used to. only problem i have is that rewiring reason into it is kind of fiddly

Its certainly a main contender, but don't forget you can get ableton, reason, cubase and protools for the mac as well as PCs.
Im running Logic with 40+ tracks with an imac from early 09 so id say you will be sorted for some time to come.
But.. saying this, its worth waiting until the 20th of this month. speculations of a new logic (logic pro X/10) will be out as theirs books in amazon/waterstones
http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Power-T ... b=-3&t=-20
and
http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesw ... 0/8804149/
all speculation of course

I've got a version of platinum I'd sell. Still have the dongle... you'll need to find a serial port though... :O)

To be fair...
While I have exclusively used Macs to make my beats since 2001... I have never chosen Logic as my DAW.
I don't think there is anything WRONG with it, but I always found better solutions out there from different programs (former DAWs : Deck, then Cubase... now Live since 2007).
Just saying.

Plenty of people are going to tell you how every DAW is the same and its ''how you use it blah blah blah''! I have in fact used nearly every single DAW out there and I have found that yes Logic is the absolute shit. It is so easy to get use to and the shortcuts are amazing for fast workflow and getting things done. There is no mess or windows, everything is straight forward and the plug ins within the actually DAW itself are among the best VSTs you would actually have to go and buy if you were using any other DAW!

It's way too much complicated to use, I rather use anything else in a PC

Bought my iMac and got Logic the day after. Haven't even tried again to Rewire into Reason. Such horror..

Logic is the tits.
Plugins that come with it are amazing and the workflow is very well laid out and its a very easy DAW to navigate. I wouldn't touch any other DAW after using logic now, but as everyone always says DAW's are personal preference.
Only thing I will say is that I had to upgrade to a 17inch macbook pro with quad core and i7 processors and 8gb RAM from a 15inch duo core with 4gb RAM so that logic would not keep coming up with 'Audio overload' Message (other logic users here will know what I am on about

). This happens when your projects become big and intensive. I have up to 80 tracks on my projects and VST's like massive hog CPU like a bitch (especially if you have quite a few instances of them), So if your going to be using intensive VST's and racking up loads of tracks then make sure your iMac is packing heat in the RAM and processor area. Alternatively, bounce as much as you can down to audo as we all know midi uses more CPU
