Zed's Dead Thick Synths

Post by Thrilter » Mon Sep 13, 2010 8:36 pm

I'm really captivated by their ability to make simple one-note synths that have HUGE thickness (or several synths playing together).I'm still kind of new to production but I did try to search for anything Zed's Dead. If anyone could take a look at Blue Foundation - Eyes on Fire (Zed's Dead Remix) and check out the fat synth they have at the drop and help me try and recreate or the fundamentals behind that synt, would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in Advance,

Thrillter

That fat synth at the drop of the Eyes on Fire remix is just a distorted/waveshaped reese, made by detuning a few saw waves at a low note, then adding multiband distortion (don't distort the low frequencies!), and EQ and such. Sounds like they might even have a light bitcrusher on there. Just look up reese tutorials theres way too many to count out there, especially on dogsonacid.

Zeds Dead are amazing in my opinion, my favorite one has to be either Adrenaline (new) or their "Illuminati Song", not to forget their incredible skill at House music in "Journey of a lifetime" but what i think they do is use about like 3 layers of audio, the bottom one is their sub wich is calm but they mess with the voice parameters in NI Massive to make it a very widespread but not annoying low-bass. The middle layer is probly a pad or low-strings (sometimes with FX to change it up) and the top one is either a mid-bass or high-bass crafted the way they want.
however, thats just what i think.
