Re: How much do u listen to your music while producing?
Gotten to the point where I can't produce. I only listen to my music in the context of other artists I'm drawing inspiration from. Just really weighing where I'm at, and wtf have I been doing this past year. Trying to organize tracks into categories of preference, style, amount of work still needed... I'd like to be producing, but I'm having essentially a mirror session, where I'm looking at myself, wondering who the fuck I am, how to move forward.

It depends, sometimes I can listen to a 8 bar loop for 8 hours straight when I'm cutting and warping vocals for instance. Creating a loop with it, maybe extending to an 16 or 32 bar loop to add some variation. I like to put my whole tune on loop and just moving back from the pc and just stand in the middle of my room and listen. Sometimes particular elements that I don't like stand out more this way. Best to shut off your monitor too when doing this..
