Agreed. Far as I'm concerned 'Nu-rave' is a conveniently 'cool' sounding name for what is essentially a very tame bland blend of electro and indie that seems to be filling the gap before the next genuinely interesting popular scene comes along (not counting dubstep here as it'll never be a 'popular' scene, in the sense that loads of non-music-liking tards like it, a fact I'm sure most people here are glad of).

It certainly bears zero resemblance to 'old' rave. Bit of an odd one anyway, since 'old' rave was anything played at a rave, which was originally a shitload of anything goes..

Gutted fella. It's a mistake for Radio1... 1Xtra need to step up too now dubstep's an international scene - they can't pretend it's a just a regional Croydon thing anymore!

I think nu-rave is a bit exciting for Colin Murray - he tends to play mor mainstream indie records that your dad quite likes as part of the BBC's commitment to keeping Peel's legacy alive

Er, but back on topic, that sucks! Unless they're planning something major, this means that the only time you can hear dubstep on radio one is 2am to 4am on friday morning, wicked. Can we actually sue them over their 'for everything you need to know about new music' slogan being woefully inaccurate?

The show was heavy while it lasted...

electro has been going for 20+ years now, since the age of the blessed 'Roland'

This is a load of wank..... What does Hermeet think of all this. I know he is on BBC 6 now and proabably cant influence the bods @ Radio One but having a dedicated show like yours is vital to the philosophy of the station right

This is very sad news indeed.

I would say though, that we all have to give respect to the BBC for allowing this show to even be aired, and equally for having the balls to promote musical diversity, be it dubstep, grime, electro, or whatever. Thankfully, dubstep and grime are just two genres in a plethora of music out there, many of whom have fanbases of a much bigger size than ours.

I hope that this brief time on Radio 1 has given Plastician enough of a profile to prospectively get a new slot elsewhere, or back on R1 in the future.

Putting his tunes and production totally aside, Plastician is without a doubt one of the top DJs in the UK at the moment, mixing grime, dubstep and garage effortlessly and at speed. And I for one am very glad that he was representing dubstep and grime on national radio rather than a lot of other DJs. Certainly for a grime man, he seems very intelligent, forward thinking and level headed.

For the future, I really hope that dubstep gets stronger magazine and newspaper backing. I don't think that the current electro scene would be anything without the recent all in support of Vice, I-D and Dazed and Confused for example, and nu-rave is purely the backing of NME. It would be nice to see this kind of support for a music genre that isn't simply throwing back to the 80s.

Each and every though.

Big ups to the Plastician. Least you've got some more time to knock out some more laaaarge tunes now!

The Plastician show on Radio One was the most professional grime/dubstep show on any form of radio, be it FM or Web!

So...Big up Plastic in delivering such an 'on point' show on whats known as the UK's largest Radio Station.

I do however think its a brave decision to end such a unique show.

Anyhow....You delivered mate!
