FEED ME Growl-ish bass in ONE CLICK HEADSHOT

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get the growl-ish bass that feed me uses in his track one click headshot.
I have made a reese style bass in massive but am curious on how he gets the growl/modulating sound in the song.

any help is much appreciated.

I've had decent luck getting reeses to do a growling effect by playing with high-pass filtering; might be something to look into. As always with a good reese, movement is key - what filter(s) are you currently using on this reese? Also, can you maybe pick a few time points in the song where you particularly like the sound? Are you planning on doing any resampling?

theres a part at the 1:03-1:05 where it runs throughout the full growl I'm trying to achieve.
I'm actually moving the phases of the oscillators to get it growling but maybe the filters have to work in as well to get the full sound I'm looking for. its the same kind of thing used by koan sound, knife party etc.
was considering resampling but wouldn't know too much of where to go with it after the soft synth.

Smallish q with a deep cut and modulate the frequency

You can use loads of notches, just automate them to change frequencies.

I've tried so far and I'm getting terrible results, starting with a nice sounding reese. Just sounds like a dumb resonance sweep producing pitched 'white noise' sounds.

You are going to need proper use of distortion and modulations on that along with your proper use of filters/eqs in order to get what you are after.

Yeah, add some distortion afterwards (saturation etc.. can be good) and you can get some pretty nice effects.

You can get some good effects withoutout a huge gain and having a few different sweeps going on. Some light flange before distortion can give you some good shit as well.

I've learnt the hard way, in a lot of cases with distortion / chorus / flangers .. do it bit by bit else you'll just destroy the sound.

I'm using massive as the daw, i have been using a slight pitch bend, but i just can't seem to get the sound to sound as "crisp" if you would. this particular sound has a real human like vibe to it and want to get the modulating sound he gets!

Well before doing any modulation write out the notes first makes the modulation a lot easier
