FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to project
Alright folks,
Just want to pick your collective brains here i've been inactive there for a long time due to life shit but i'm back in the game now.
The issue is a simple and straightforward one and it's the topic of this thread. Have my mixdown and master done in FL sounds the way i want it, as soon as i render it unfortunately it sounds completely different. I love FL studio but this issue is a bastard i must say as my finished rendered file sounds completely different than the way i have it within the program and this is a big problem and it's making me reconsider my daw choice. I've tried every single render setting to no avail.
Anyone any clue how to fix this and although i value everyones input, please to avoid wasted time and every single thread on the internet that goes absoloutly no where with a problem, only the ones with experience with this need answer this thread.
Thanks in advance lads, i dont mean to sound ignorant but i have to be terribly blunt with this because i need a blunt answer.

do you have windows sound enhancements active?
Theres nothing wrong with FLs exporting, they use LAME codecs, just like everyone else. The way it sounds in your daw should be how it sounds when you render, unless your in the red (FL only clips on output, it wont clip a live monitoring signal), or your playing back through different drivers that are effecting the sound.

Can you maybe upload me a clip or describe what way the sound changes? I can probably help you out better if I can hear it.

if you're using asio4all in fl studio then it will sound different to when you export it and listen to it through your normal soundcard

render in edison before mastering. turn off circular panning law in the audio options. listen to the render piece in asio mode either in fl studio or if you have traktor or something that allows asio mode.

Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
Make sure your quality settings are the same for playback and rendering. Check the settings when you render and make the playback settings match. Does that make sense?
Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
Aw yeah bud been usin FL now a couple of years i knows about all that, really weird i dont have my soundcard here or my speakers, it sounds great in project, shite when i play it rendered. But i played the rendered file today out of the car speakers and it sounded fantastic. So i am not gonna trust the sound i am getting out of my headphones from the rendered file at all cause there is something very wrong there. Thanks for all the input lads i dno what it is but maybe it's a problem with the programs i'm using for playback they all sound the same which is weird. I guess i will just have to try them on my monitors when i get them down from my college house.ShapeSHIFT wrote:Make sure your quality settings are the same for playback and rendering. Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
What program are you playing the rendered file with?
Most media players have additional settings like EQs ect which might be switched on. Try opening the file with different media players.

I have a thread here discussing the track, and offering you the chance to remix it, more details in thread! See what you can come up with!

Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
Import the track back to FL and listen. Could be the same issue I had a little ago, where it was just shitty soundcard drivers VS ASIO4ALL
Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
Circular panning doesn't matter, it won't make it sound different after render. Every DAW has different panning law options, but it won't affect renders only literally the way panning works as in hard fast L C R panning, or slower L l c C c r R panning etc.
I would check the sample rate and interpolation in the project file versus the one you are rendering with, and make sure they match and not doing something weird like going from higher sample rate to lower sample rate upon render. The interpolation should be at the max FL supports on render, but can be lower during playback. That will affect what you hear versus what you render.

Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
it's already been said, it's just the sound enhancements on your built in soundcard.
however i wouldn't completely ignore that since most people are going to listen to it on a similar setting on their computers

Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
Ya spot on lads, it's the feckin drivers. Imported it back into FL played it on the asio and boom, sounds fuckin delicious. Pain in the arse now that one is only started noticing it there now since i've been doing alot of new processing on tracks. Thanks for the help folks much appreciated!
Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
Sorry guys to bump this, but I'm having this problem as well. I exported a lead that sounded fine in FL, but when I listen to it in WMP, it sounds like it's ducking in volume at places and just doesn't sound right. Though, I put that same file back into FL, and it sounds perfectly fine. I've disabled all possible things in WMP that could affect the sounds, like eqs. I've also played it in Windows Movie Maker and had the same problem. If this helps, when I export, the ASIO icon in the bottom right turns blue(which means it's not working right?). Does anybody have a solution for this?
Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
You could be in oversampling issue. Sometimes things do not oversample within the DAW but they do when you export. If you wanted to render the same way that you can play it back within the software, go to the export menu, but before you start the export, uncheck "hd for all plugins"... I think that should work. but it may not

Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
Thanks for the help. I tried that, but it didn't work. I've read about others having this issue as well, it's something to do with a conflict between the ASIO driver and your computers primary sound driver. This is really frustrating. Does anybody know how to fix this issue? And no, before anybody asks, it has nothing to do with my mixdown, nothing is clipping, and I'm exporting at 320kbp/s. The sound is fine within FL, just not when I am exporting, ASIO seems to disable itself when I export. I've searched my computer for any sound enhancing options, and unticked any I could find.
Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
Well I'm just saying, because my friend was having issues with this. Big parts of his sound designs were caused by nyquist reflection...which wasn't happening in the rendering stage due to oversampling. If my previous advice didn't work, you can try it the manual way...going into each plugin and looking for oversampling options. Any plugins that have options for oversampling upon export, but not on playback (like Sytrus, for example) should have export-oversampling disabled. Try rendering your tune after that.
Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
I've looked into it a bit more, it seems that all my exported files from past projects are doing it now. This only came about recently because I changed to a new laptop. All the files sound fine when imported into FL, but sound like they are being compressed in WMP or any media player on my computer. Again, thanks for the help man, I appreciate it.
Re: FL studio rendering sounding completely diferent to proj
Alright...well that's odd, can't really help with that. I have no idea.
