Thanks for the feedback npcompl33t, you're the only one (until Cubicle above lol) who gave me any lol. I'll check that synth clipping, and at 2:38 it's vocals from the original track just looped and panned. :W:

Feedback for others:
@SupaRaiden64 You need to add some hats or other percussion man, that'll fill out your spectrum. As for the intro, try arpeggiating the melody you have with a stabby saw or square wave synth, maybe pan it around. As your your basses, you need to eq everything to get rid of some mud - then put all your basses/yois/yahhs etc into one bus and limit them together - atm some are way louder than others. Just bring everything together and add some top end man :W:
@npcompl33t Catchy intro, nice use of the vocals. One thing I'd recommend is mixing your drums better, and perhaps getting better kick and snare samples - they need more punch. Your melodies are cool, love what starts at 2:30. Good job man.
@Altron Nice drum work on the intro, basses are quite nice too - just not too fond of the YOI :P I'd suggest adding something in the background like a chord or pad sequence to carry it - atm the track seems a little empty in places. Mix sounds good though, finish it up :)

Track I started today, inspired by Burials stuff - not too sure on the bass.

Soundcloud

Track was mixed on headphones, and very roughly mastered, some things probably sound shitty on other peoples systems.

Any comments, feedback and plays/comments on SoundCloud is really appreciated :)

Thanks. :W:

@Cubicle Lol I always copy and paste peoples names :P Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you liked it and could't find any real negatives, I'll just keep tweaking little things - should have it finished soon.

Onto your track (I'm listening on headphones here so may miss problems with sub bass):
Intro is good, I'd maybe raise the little melody in the background up slightly in the mix. Good build, use of the vocals is good too - I like the pitched down bits. I didn't notice muddiness until around 0:57ish, but only slightly - perhaps you could use a small notch on the EQ and sweep it through until you remove the freq's you dislike? Imo the breakdown was a bit harsh - and is a bit sparse around 2:00 or so, maybe add backgroud padding? Overall it's ounding good - one final comment about the mix, try bringing out the kick more either by boosting/eqing or maybe sidechaining.

@mthrfnk i really like the melodies and teh arrengment overall especially the melody that plays in the upper left corner i personaly would go for a more natural sounding drumset and maybe lowpass the bass little bit more i also feel the backwards guitar sounds,
maybe take tha hi hats more back into the room? and add a long reverb tail to your snare occasionally

@cubicle arrangement is done imho i just would like little bit more deep and sub and low mids and maybe bring the hi ends more wide with chorus and some slightly distortion and i dont really feelthe build up to the second drop too much would like a more darker melody but the rap and bass play really nice together maybe some more power to your bassdrum and your snare ?

@speciman yarp rides!!!!!!!!!!!!!!big tune man you got really good! wide stereo field and i fucking love the rides has a metal dnb mix feeling hm just finish it suggestion would be go like one roar down with resample or whatever to get this extra grime like normal normal normal low and some hi hat breaks every now and then and maybe a double time passage later :i:

tune i started yesterday maybe someone feels it

Budspencertron - Your drop sent shivers down my spine but the intro I felt was a little flaccid. the rest of the tune kept me groovin high.
mthrfnk - Dig the backwards stuff, always been a fan of those weird envelope curves. I feel the progression can bee condense it seemed a little strung out. love the sound disgn thou, the basses rip
Cubicle - Im not engineer so i cant say much for the mixdown shizz but the first drop felt a little awkward, i dont really know how else to put it. i think just the melodic composistion was a little iffy, thou the second time around i found it bangin

anywho heres my song I'm not sure if im done with it or not but im pretty sure im not. anyfeedback greatly appreciated

Howaya's, thanks for the feedback folks i'll give back when i get home and get infront of my monitors tonight.

@Acro can answer that now though, subtractive and surgical EQ, using reverb and delays and panning in diferent ways, compression, proper sidechaining fuck man the list goes on ha i just spark up a fat one and spend hours tweaking and jus doin w/e :4:

@mthrfnk I really like the intro and love the first lead synth, but I think that the there needs to be a better transition at 0:55. It just seemed a bit sudden and I don't think it flowed particularly well. I also think you could mix up the drums a bit from 1:53 onwards to make it a little less repetitive. Overall, great track. :)

@Kolto I love this track except for one thing: the vocals. They don't seem to be in the same key as the rest of the track and don't really fit at all. In my opinion, the vocals aren't really needed at all, you could take them out altogether and still have an epic track. You could add a lead synth to take their place but I don't think even that's necessary. Apart from that, I can't really fault it.

@jclarkeiv Overall a very good track: good bass, good lead, good drums. It does however seem quite heavily compressed at 2:00, and after the great build up, was a bit of a let down- it was solid but not exceptional.

@sprayyypaint I can't really fault it

Okay, I started making this track yesterday and it's my first halfway decent track. It obviously needs a lot of work but just let me know what you think so far. :)

Mixed with headphones btw so might sound a bit weird on people's systems.

dude, thanks for some of the feedback all sounds great and i really dig your ideas.

for people wondering how i made the basses bassicaly they are just saw and square waves at like -24 and -12 then i mangled them in a band reject
send both the basses to a return channel - limit -8db , then send that limit to an audio channel with 3 multiband dynamics plugs from ableton then throw 3 compressors to mangle the fuck outta it. bassically just putting lfo's on cool spots to make it sound sweet. just fooling around with different things are cool. and on the 2nd bass (the reese) i put an lfo on the fader between lfo shapes in massive. thats a big part of it. detuning is always great too.
95 bpm is really fun to work with, its easy to have that metal / dnb vibe at 95.. it really is. i highly suggest some of you try it out
but a good trick for this bpm is to treat the drums like a house track in the sense of the "4 on the floor" kick. having that kick punching with a snare sounds great
another thing i did was my snare - i sent the signal to another empty audio channel (we will call this one channel B) (channel A being the original snare.)
channel A has the reverb at 100% wetness so there is no snare punch. after recording that non-punchy snare into channel b i remove the reverb from channel A
this causes there to be beautiful reverb with a very fat crack still present in the sound. another really important part is making sure not every sound is around the same frequency that tends to cause alot of conflict.
funny.. i havnt really been digging dubstep lately , been more into electro (i.e. lucky date) and trance (i.e. arty.) but this whole 95 bpm concept has REALLY drawn me back into this all.
if anyone decides to try out 95bpm let me hear it and maybe we'll throw down on a collab. :W:

dude... big props on the tune, has a real zeds dead feel to it... BUT .. i think you should try something... in your OSC make one a sawtooth make it low and detuned... then throw a really minimal ammount of chorus on it to brighten up the sound, then eq the high ends up, limit that, then compress it like hell, shit would be fat as hell.

2 questions
1)what DAW , Vst (bass)
2) can i have some files to do a remix / possible collab? im down to get dirty on this track dude... seriously i can hear the potential just screaming hahah :4:

***** FORGOT TO MENTION ****** if your going 4 on the floor kick patterns.. pull your snare back just a TINY bit so it cracks through the kick. :) :W:
i know alot of what i mentioned was kinda beginner friendly, but there is nothing wrong with talking in beginners terms to help out those of all skill ranges ;)

@Brycegil I'd probably say half the speed you got the bleeps going in the beginning and maybe lower the a quarter of a octave just so it's got more of a steady and dark prescence, Sub is good. I'd eq the snare and compress it a bit just so its got a bit more of a cleaner top end. besides that sounding good dude.

@orangeapplesauce I was feeling the intro I didn't like the mid bass at all when it went in I'd pull that straight out man whack a nice heavy sub on it and eq the pads so they have more top end I'd cut more around 400hz down and maybe a bit up. compress that aswell I love them pads though. Got great potential to be a dark chilled number has a really good vibe!

@BudSpencertron I didn't know what to expect in the beginning but I'm digging it, that reece is mean the drums are clean and punchy got nothing bad to say great stuff.

Probably the second time I've worked on a dnb tune, vocal's starting to sound a bit cheesy now but was digging it at first dunno if i should lower it an octave. any feedback appreciated.

Anyways, heres my feedback to you peeps:

@ZankUSA:
Pretty fun to listen to. I must say its pretty repetitive, and it would help a TON if you boost the high end a bit, or just excite it (works either way for me :D) But cool track.

@InTheCrowd Not Bad! Try adding more synths though. That would definitely help. The bass is pretty cool! :D In other words, I love it! :D

@Brycegil Nice intro. Sub the noise for something else; or at least add an effect to it such as a phaser or something, it would sound better. Love than panning high hat. Should be slightly more action packed near where the drop is going to be, whether the drop is extreme or more calm.

@orangeapplesauce Try balance each synth's loudness and EQ, mixing would also help. Its pretty calm, and chill; something I would like to listen to while doing my homework, for example. Would strongly help if you smoothen your saw with something; maybe increase the # of voices and slightly detune them. Good song.

@BudSpencertron Not bad! Very unique. I do have some suggestions though. CONTROL. THE. BASS. I know its dubstep, but keep the bass at a moderate level. Feed it through a multiband compressor, make some adjustments, and you're set. Its also a bit too repetitive for my taste. BUT, it has a lot of potential. Keep it up! :D

@mthrfnk Mastering is pretty remarkable. Keep it up. Add some some low end to some parts though, too make it more fun to listen to. Add some tonals or something to make it more interesting at some parts. I love the random repeating vocal xD Anyways, great job! A Banger! :D

@Cubicle I like it. Sometimes too detuned though, try to keep it at a minimum. Snare is pretty good, but goddamn, increase the VOLUME on that kick; I can barely hear it. Its good though. Vocals are pretty cool. Try making the mod. talking thing oscillator more stereo.

Anyways, I would give my opinion on more people's tracks, but unfortunately I have to do my homework -_- Anyhow, I dunno about the mixing/mastering, it sounds really mastered when I listen to the wav on my computer, but soundcloud shows it differently. Anyways, feedback would be strongly appreciated! :) Thank you!
Anyways, this is my track. Ignore the beginning part - The action starts in the drop.

Boosted the high ends a bit, changed up drums a tat, added some groove.

@LifeOfCows - The drum parts are great - the second snare (eg the one that plays at 0:44 )is a bit hard to make out, i nearly missed it the first time i listened through. How you have the synth follow the kick at 0:11 is really cool, but again i think it was a bit hard to make out - it works really well though, you should make it more prominent. It is wierd that it would sound different on soundcloud - I have noticed that sometimes soundcloud will store a cached copy of a song on your comp/iphone and will continue to play the cached version even if you swap out the files. I have even noticed it did this on my iphone despite showing the new wave form - not sure if that helps, but it is something i have run across.

@Mad_Ice It may just be that i am listening on headphones, but it seemed a little light on the bass.

@ZankUSA - Your kick hits really well. Since the drums seem to be carrying your song, I think it might help to have a more interesting drum pattern. Mix-wise it is sounding pretty good.

BudSpencertron Those drums are tight! I would have to agree with Specimen-Yarp that the bass could use a bit more of a phat sound. Nice job with the vocals.

@Brycegil - love the 6/8 time! It is a good build up, you just need to do something with it now. Your snare hits pretty well, but your kick could use some beefing up imo.

@orangeapplesauce it sounds like the synth that comes in at 0:08 is peaking - not sure if it is a mix or a mastering problem but on my headphones it is really overwhelming - definitely eating into the other instruments sounds.

@mthrfnk - really digging the part from 0:15 to 0:55 - it does a great job of building. Im not too sure about the bass part - it doesnt really do anything with the build. I think one thing you could do is take the part that comes in at 2:27 (which is a great follow up around the intro) , either write the bass part around it or make it more prominent, and pull it forward to 1:51.

@Cubicle - I'm a mixing noob so im not too sure i can tell you what is causing your mixdown to be muddy, but on headphones the synths that come in around 0:30 are a bit overpowering - it is definitely pulling away from the vocals and the drums are hard to hear. On my headphones the sub sounds fine, and it seems like the mid range is what is overpowering. It doesn't seem as noticeable during the slower oscillations - are you oscillating via the cutoff on a bandpass or something? It might be the one part of the oscillations that are causing it to sound muddy.

This was the first track i made, I am about to go through and make some changes/fixes based on the stuff i have learned since I made it. Some feedback would be super helpful!

@npcompl33t : Not so bad, but there's a lot to improve on that. Mixdown is descent but not perfect, synths are commons, melody is fine but sometimes a bit messy. It's all about improving idea / sounds / mixdowns for you. Good job anyway.

@LifeOfCows : Lot of DNB today :p. Intro is too simple, it needs a build up. The drop is violent, a bit too much for my ears, that bass is really aggressive. The hats are piercing my ears, cut them at 17khz. The overall is a bit messy, but it have potential.

@InTheCrowd : Lol DNB again. But your tune is really nice, deep DnB is rare and appreciate it :). So everything seems good in my ears, very good job ( a bit too short :p )

@Brycegil : I won't tell you that it's good, but you are on the right track. The LFO panning on the hats is nice on intro, or breaks, not all the time. Keep that up, finish that track and do another one ! That's the best way to improve.

@BudSpencertron : It sounds pretty nice, but if I have one thing to say, it would be : Add some more ambiance / One shots / SFX to keep your listener attention. Good job.
