Yeah, what the thread title says:
Enjoy your free SoundCloud Pro for 5 full months. At the end of this period, all of your uploaded audio will be saved and you will not be obligated to any renewals or further subscriptions.
Read all about it here.
Plus, Soundcloud is giving away Ableton Live 8 Lite licenses in their latest newsletter!

Pro offers 36hrs of uploads, whereas Free is only 120mins.
What happens if you upload 36hrs, then after the 5 months choose not to continue - do they arbitarily delete the 34hrs balance?

No, they leave your tracks/mixes up, you just can't upload more.

Yea man £29 quid a month or £221 for the year.
But don't forget there are other (cheaper) options.. soundcloud free -> lite -> solo -> pro -> pro plus

If you're making regular coin off your music, that's pretty much nothing...and I see more & more production contests giving away a years worth of Solo etc as a prize

Very true, less than my phone contract and I would say I'm on soundcloud more than my phone! hehe, either way Lite is fine for me, might upgrade to Solo when I need it

Yeah I haven't gone over my limit yet (I still have like 40 minutes left), but it would be nice to have an upgraded account. The main reason is that you can see more about the people who listen to your music. I think that info on soundcloud about how many people from what countries listen and dl your music is AWESOME, it's really interesting to see like people from Russia and Uganda have played my music

but the upgraded soundcloud allows you to see even more of that

This does not appear to be correct. They do leave your content up, it's just your oldest content that exceeds the 120 minute limit will not be accessible.
What happens to content in my SoundCloud Pro account after the 5 months are over?
After the 5 months are over, the account will revert to a free account (unless there was an already paid for SoundCloud subscription on the account previous to this upgrade). In the case there wasn't a Premium subscription enabled on the account before and there was over 2 hours worth of content on the SoundCloud account, the older content that exceeds this time would be hidden until the account is upgraded again. If there was a Premium subscription enabled on the account before this upgrade, once the 5 months are over, the account will be reverted to the previous subscription, along with the upload time that came with that subscription. You can check the amount of quota that comes with each SoundCloud subscription here.
I'm going to check it out still, just to see what the pro account is like.

Well, it is correct, they do leave them up, they just hide them.
Yeah, it appears I had forgotten about that clause! Thanks for clearing it up.

Wait if I have a copy of Ableton lite that I got with my Saffire interface, does that count?

I think it only works with Live 8 and Live 8 Suit, not with the Lite versions.

Literally just bought Ableton the other day. What a great extra incentive for making the switch! Awesome!
