Spammers=tnucs
Saying that,i just found out if you go to the track edit option and set your track to private it gives you an option of choosing people who can still listen to it.If you select everyone you are following they receive the track in their dropbox. Also they get an email to say you have shared it with them.In my opinion a great feature of the free account but could this be seen as spamming?
I often wondered how people did that, more often than not though I take no notice.
See that could be where you are going wrong,i read a soundcloud networking blog months ago that said nobody likes a shit neighbour.
You should post comments but not just "yeah bluuud","sicker than my dying granny" or "thats fat bluuud braaaapppppp" the comments should try and be constructive like commenting on the mix or elements you like that you feel drive the track blahblahblahblah
Also being greatfull when people post on yours and actually listening and favouriting tracks too, apparently the more you do it the more people will feel you are an active user who is participating in what souncloud is meant to be about.
In all honesty what i just posted above i tried and it sort of does and doesn't work,i gained a few more followers and a few more comments but that was it.I think you need to be on it constantly but you gotta think when will you get the time between making tunes coming on here to waffle shit, work and balance a family life and then go on soundcloud to massage the ego of some producer you probably don't even like just to maybe get a comment back or even a follower. To me fuck it it takes off it takes off time is a precious thing i lack.
I get what you're saying, I do try and give people comments back, I've even messaged a few people that favourited my stuff and it does seem to work, like they'll listen to my other tracks too. I guess it just takes time to build up a good following, and obviously you need to have good tunes. Both of which you need to constantly work at :(

No offence guys but im not sure giving such time and credence to sc "networking" is such a good idea. Sure more plays and comments are always welcome but if they are simply due to you 'posting comments on tunes you might not even like, then its even more meaningless.

Soundcloud comments should not be the endgoal here- investing so much time on an online account which may soon be obsolete (a la myspace) does not provide that many benefits and takes away time when you could be producing/learning new stuff/trying to get your songs to some djs or on the radio.

Yeah soundcloud isn't a reliable source of feedback unless you fall for people that are ego-trippiing to get hat extra comment on their song. Fuck that. If you really want quality feedback as well as CONSTRUCTIVE CRISTISM. God forfird you can accpet it, yeah buiild a network around peers that know what the fuck they're talking about. I.E. members of this forum, becuase i've learned more from this forum than i ever could on my own.. And i'm not even dick-ridin.. i've done more readig than posting for a minute

Yup, it annoys me quite a lot when someone's like "GREAT TRACK, REALLY COOL MAN. NOW CHECK MY STUFF OUT", and you go to their profile and see they've said the exact same thing to 10000 other people in the last day.
I had a guys leaving two identical comments on two of my tracks within a few minutes of each other.

But as for soundcloud, I opted for the solo plan. Love it, and it really doesn't work out that expensive when you consider it's 50 euro (about £45) for the year. Less than a fiver a month.

Super experimental.

I have a thread here discussing the track, and offering you the chance to remix it, more details in thread! See what you can come up with!

I totally agree, my point was mainly that I try to "network" because I like to comment back or at least listen to people who give me comments/favourites. I don't post on tunes I don'tlike and especially don't post on tracks that people spam around. I enjoy using SC and I do feel that the more followers/plays/favourites etc I get should surely help me in the future should I ever wish to actually release something, although I don't waste massive amounts of time using it.

I get what you mean man, I use the WIP thread A LOT and the feedback really means a lot to me. However I do also enjoy receiving genuine comments from complete strangers who most often than not have simply stumbled across my tracks on SC and like them.

I would of thought networking would of been the best way of meeting people that might possibly get your music out there and i think soundcloud is a way of achieving that isn't it?
I don't think it is simply about posting comments to get comments back,I would of thought commenting a good way to getting people to check your tunes. Not only this the possibilities of collabin with other producers or meeting people who might have connections to dj's and record labels,is this not what most people producing edm want?
I had a fella the other day ask about promoting this jump up dnb tune i done with a friend with possibilities of a release if i want,so it is a good avenue imo.
I could be like certain people on soundcloud and follow 2000 people in the hope i gain a fanbase out of it but i don't,i simply post comments on tracks i like and am polite when i recieve comments on mine, its no big deal.
I could in all fairness spend most of my day on fakebook talking to a bunch of tnucs from school i never liked just to will myself popular along with the other 20 billion users

Yep same, my followers has been fluctuating from like 45-50 and back down again for the past few weeks. I don't get why people go to the effort tbh.

Recently went premium. One thing that may be overlooked is being able to replace the audio of an uploaded track. Great if you've had a few comments but you've made some tweaks to the song and want to update it.

Althoughhh.... I just realised if you already got a lot of love for a track and you replaced it with something very comical / naff then it could be fairly amusing.

Haha yeah I'd love to see someone actually do that on a track with 100s of comments.
