Not really a fan of the music but shes fit. She looks better in that Vanessa video...gotta like a Christina Ricci meets Zooey Deschanel thing going on.
Shaved head, not so much, but still would.

I'd appreciate it if we could not equate homosexuality with suckiness.

If this is the future, it seems highly livable: shiny, cool and comfortably dissonant. Like a low dose of ketamine in an empty, luminous airport hall in northern Japan, eating avocado and waiting for the universe to arrive.

No.. Ricci meets Deschanel is BAD.apmje wrote:Not really a fan of the music but shes fit. She looks better in that Vanessa video...gotta like a Christina Ricci meets Zooey Deschanel thing going on.

How could you even think of that? She's fucking horrible, she's the female fucking Skrillex bro.

In the video I saw her, she looked like that in my opinion.
What would they be a bad mix? They are both fine ladies...obviously of a higher cablire than Ms. Grimes but shes not that bad.

You know what he meant, he wasn't be homophobic, it's just a phrase. Stop being a cigarette.computerface wrote:I'd appreciate it if we could not equate homosexuality with suckiness.

Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
Thing is, the fact that people don't see it as homophobic is the problem. To use gay or cigarette or whatever as a derogatory term is definitely a bad thing, whether you consciously mean it to be offensive or not, it does offend, and it definitely does nothing to change people's attitudes towards gay people.apmje wrote:You know what he meant, he wasn't be homophobic, it's just a phrase. I'm guilty of it myself, it's something I really need to get out of the habit of saying.
Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
cigarette isnt that offensive to be fair.
Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
I personally never say cigarette, gay or whatever (of course, this is a one off, just to be a dick). But I think people need to get over it, everyone especially gay people get on their high horse when someone says something that could be loosely contrived as a homophobic statement when 9/10 times, it isn't. It's depending on the context, the context was obviously not intended to be homophobic.
Think people just need to chill the fuck out.

Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
The thing is that homosexuality ceased to be taboo about ten years ago but lots of members of the gay community still love a fuss kicked up with anything remotely 'offensive'. No one cares anymore, people should just realise that.

Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
There are no two ways about it, using the word gay as a derogatory term pushes the view that being gay is bad, or there's something wrong with it, and whether you intend that to be homophobic or not, it is. I'm not saying that everyone who calls something/someone gay is homophobic, but you can still say something homophobic whilst not actually being homophobic.apmje wrote:I personally never say cigarette, gay or whatever (of course, this is a one off, just to be a dick). Also, while I do kind of agree with your sentiment, gay people have to deal with so much shit and abuse that if they want to get on their high horse, I think it's fair enough.

Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
That is absolute bullshit. Perhaps to you, and the people you roll with, don't care about sexuality anymore, that doesn't for a second mean that it's no longer considered taboo. Homophobia is still everywhere, I have friends that have do deal with a lot of abuse just because of the way they are, and until being homosexual or straight is seen as being no different to having brown or black hair, there will always be an issue.JBoy wrote:The thing is that homosexuality ceased to be taboo about ten years ago but lots of members of the gay community still love a fuss kicked up with anything remotely 'offensive'. To suggest that it isn't seen as a taboo or that people don't care is part of the problem to be honest.
Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
That won't happen...ever. You will always have an ignorant minority...but thats what it is today, a minority. So why do jump down everyones throats just because they referenced something that could be deemed derogatory?
I understand that it's hard but it's hard if your overweight, underweight, black, white, gay, straight, male, female, 21 or 61. There is always going to be prejudices just everyone needs to chill their beans.

Umm... what about the gay people who were offended, they care, right?JBoy wrote:The thing is that homosexuality ceased to be taboo about ten years ago but lots of members of the gay community still love a fuss kicked up with anything remotely 'offensive'. Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
^obviously they do, but they tend to care too much about a lot of things. Such as make up and skin moisturisation.

Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
"gay" is such a childish, schoolboy insult I cant see how anyone would be truly offended by its offhand use.
but daz jus me yo.
edit: actually i can see how people could be offended. dont really use the word myself, but i couldnt get in a tizzy bout other people using it other than thinking "you need to get more creative with your insults."
Anyway, Grimes. Kinda dry.

Re: I'm in love with Claire Boucher (aka Grimes)
haha I would cig that but I nobody knows or gives a shit about her, so it wouldn't have the same impact as making gay jokes in my cig, like I'm doing now.
The funny thing is, that's the first thing that came into my head as well, "damn, that woman looks...like...dry, literally dry".
But I like her music, just have to get past the pitchfork crap. "My Sister says the Saddest things" is a pretty good tune, it actually reminded me a bit of Slowdive with the female singer. Not so much the beats though. I also like Visions, though I can imagine that album being quite the divider.
