Are you saying being played on the radio equates to talent? Drake gets played for the same reason mike jones got played years ago. Because he was willing to jump on board with a sound that's "hot right now". He's a marketable figure head, NOTHING more. I'll be the first to admit that while the bone thugs legacy won't be what wu-tangs legacy is, they will be remembered. But give it a few years and see if anybody still knows who Drake is. He's nothing more than a passing fad with a marketable image. But none of that means he has any talent whatsoever.ketamine wrote:Yes. It was forced down my throat by all my friends in HighSchool. And for the record, being that you live in my area and get the same stations as me, you know just as well as I do that wu-tang STILL plays on the radio, after about 20 years since their debut album's release.

What was out that sounded ANYTHING like Marvins Room before that?cmgoodman1226 wrote:Drake gets played for the same reason mike jones got played years ago. Because he was willing to jump on board with a sound that's "hot right now".
Nothing.
Drake did not "jump" on a pre-existing hot sound, his own personal sound blew up and BECAME the hot sound.
40 changed hiphop production. Now everybody's low passing and reversing piano chords...
And don't you EVER compare the high-end production & engineering standards of Noah Shebib to Mike Jones. Do you even hear yourself?
Re: DMX on Drake lol
Marvin's Room is NOT hip hop
Re: DMX on Drake lol
Who said it was? Why does it need to be?rayman612 wrote:Marvin's Room is NOT hip hop
Why can't it just exist as "a song" and be whatever it is.
Why bring up 15 year old Wu Tang clan records and compare it?

Wow. A guy who can't actually sing is trying to over a decent beat with 808's. How revolutionary...ketamine wrote:What was out that sounded ANYTHING like Marvins Room before that?cmgoodman1226 wrote:Drake gets played for the same reason mike jones got played years ago. Re: DMX on Drake lol
when did i ever mention a producer's name? This whole argument from my side has been about DRAKE, and the fact that he has no singing abilities, no lyrical abilities, no smooth voice abilities, no abilities that would help classify him as talented in ANY genre, let alone hip hop.ketamine wrote:What was out that sounded ANYTHING like Marvins Room before that?cmgoodman1226 wrote:Drake gets played for the same reason mike jones got played years ago. Ok. You're entitled to feel that way.
Re: DMX on Drake lol
And they will keep getting played out for many years to come, Drake on the otherhand (& all these other shitty rappers) won't be remembered in 20 years time because they will have been replaced by the next one and it will just keep happening forever.cmgoodman1226 wrote: And for the record, being that you live in my area and get the same stations as me, you know just as well as I do that wu-tang STILL plays on the radio, after about 20 years since their debut album's release.
Ketamine...Although i disagree with pretty much everything you've said, they're your opinions and you're entitled to them but i think we can all agree that the Wu have done loads for Hip Hop and deserve alot more respect and recognition than they get today.

Well in the realm of R&B that song is in no way revolutionary, it's just mediocreketamine wrote:Who said it was? Why does it need to be?rayman612 wrote:Marvin's Room is NOT hip hop
