His match against Benoit in 95 is one of the finest demonstrations of technical wrestling I've ever seen, easily in my top 3 matches of all time;

TBF, Lesnar's return would've been nothing short of fantastic if they'd managed to keep a lid on it. But when Cena delivered his Rocky bait promo and the crowd were chanting WE WANT BROCK to the point where he was being drowned out, it killed the moment a bit.
I didn't know it was going to happen, i thought the crowd were shouting "we want rock!" and "we want wrestling!" instead of brock/lesnar.

Extreme Rules last night was a fucking joke, other than Rhodes winning back the title.

What the fuck was the point of hyping Lesnar's return then just have him lose anyway?

Couldn't disagree more.

Kane Vs Orton- A good opener, a little lengthy but nowhere near as bad as it could've been. Good use of it being falls count anywhere instead of the usual "LOL NEARFALL OUTSIDE THE RING NOW QUICKLY BACK INSIDE FOR THE REST OF THE MATCH".

Brodus Vs Ziggler- A fun match, first non squash i've seen brodus in with his current gimmick, and ziggler's cartoonish selling really works well with clay. Hornswoggle killed most of the crowd reaction for clay, and I wish he'd have used him as a weapon, but I can deal with that.

Cody Rhodes Vs The Big Show- Good match, good stipulation, nice finish and a good spot after the match. Question the wisdom giving that spot to someone who injures people like nobodies business but it paid off and rhodes was unscathed.

D-Bry vs Sheamus- Contender for match of the year, well paced, keeps sheamus over while giving D-Bry more legitimacy and making him seem like an actual threat. People will always moan about finishes where someone hit's a finisher out of nowhere to win but face booking will always be like that with the top faces, overcoming the odds B A Star etc.

Punk vs Jericho- Didn't enjoy this as much as I feel I should've, just can't help but feel punk and jericho aren't good workers together. I mean the spots were good, the crowd was pumped but it just didn't gel. Not an awful match, but nowhere near what I'd expected

went for a piss- Not very long, not very intense. No burning sensations or any other abnormalities. Just a standard piss. Then I fast forwarded the rest of the Divas match.

John Cena vs Brock "Do you get it, I was in MMA, we're acknowledging MMA now guys, look at my MMA gear" Lesnar - Again, a good match despite the finish. I'd argue the finish made it better. Blood in a hardcore match, that I hope was hardway and not bladed. Brock toying with cena and looking like a dominant force. Cena getting the win to please the little jimmies but apparently being "injured" afterwards gives him a chance to take time out and have a bit of a break and gives Brock a nice "cena won the battle but where is he now, I'm the only one here still standing" angle to jump into a feud with whoever really, probably punk for the title. Allowing cena to redebut at either summerslam (not very likely he'll be out for that long) or at No Way Out ( which I think is more likely)

Thought this was the best PPV this year tbh. Tonight's raw will be interesting

Lead towards Blenky's take.

I thought Kane/Orton was boring though... I've never really bought Kane the Monster. He's a good big man, but his gimmick's rooted in something even the Undertaker left behind a decade ago. I'm just sick of Orton, tbh.

Brodus Clay Vs Ziggler was fine... extended squash match. Brodus can still only manage about 5 or 6 offensive moves in a match, but Ziggler sold that headbutt like nobody's business. Big splashes are lame. Get a new finisher, Brodus.

Cody/Show - Good ending. Solid match. Cody needs to move on and fued with someone a bit more "Intercontinental".

DB/Fella - Sheamus can fuck off. Danielson carried him through one of the better matches of the year, only for the massive Irish gimp to forget which shoulder he was supposed to be selling.

Punk/Jericho - A lot better than I expected. Jericho's better than I've been giving him credit for. They should've let him screw Punk out of the title in front of the home fans... it's not like they won't be back in Chicago before long.

Divas - Fastforwarded after the switch. Layla?! Hopefully they're giving BP some time out so they can build up Kharma as a monster heel only for Beth to return and vanquish her. Beth Vs Monster is the only worthwhile angle in the entire division.

Cena/Brock - EXACTLY how they should've played it. The first ten minutes or so were absolutely fucking brutal. Cena's like some cross between Hogan and Foley at the moment... it's making me a bit uncomfortable. A break will do everyone good. I'm glad the crowd seemed appreciative though; if he'd left a match like that to a chorus of boos, I think he would've fucking hanged himself.

Rewatching it again last night, I was a little harsh on the Lesnar/Cena finish...but I stand by the rest of my comments. Other than the Rhodes match, this still bored the shit out of me.

Raw last night was hilarious - Lesnar 'breaking' Trip's arm in the kimura (more MMA references, woooo). And seeing Prince Albert getting used as a monster enforcer is just fucking jokes, it's like they're trying to make him into an Umaga character.

When Big Show slammed Cody through the table... i thought he was gonna switch... but no, on raw he was with the good guys again. Is violently overreacting to a loss by your own oafishness what a good guy does?

Sort it out WWE. Your people aren't being stars.

Big Show is a tweener, He acts nice and sweet as pie most of the time but has his snapping point where he does heel things, such as throwing a man 3 foot straight down through a table. Same as Randy Orton only they explain that in kayfabe that he "has that special place where only he can go

"

The problem is the gimmick isn't getting over here. He comes out to either dead air or people chanting Albert, which isn't what they want. Instead of making him wrestle under a different name and speak japanese and shit they should've had him come back and just use his old name but cut a promo saying he'd been in japan, and he'd grown stronger and that he'd grown tired of seeing the people in the wwe wrestle with no honour, no respect for the art, and he'd come to destroy them. Something like that would've gotten far more over with the fans than him screaming Tensai Ichiban and at least half the crowd thinking "lipstick for men?"

I kind of like the Tensai gimmick, but it's not going over at all... Albert's fucking brutal though, they need to work out how to use him properly.

He's also the gayest looking straight bloke in the entire world.

YES!

None of my friends get me when I say he looks gay!

I too like the gimmick, I just don't think it's being explained enough for people who don't know about his time in japan to be able to look past the fact it's albert with kanji on his head. Agree on him being a damm good big man though, he scares me far more than lesnar does.

On the subject of the Lesnar/Cena match, i couldn't be the only one thinking Lesnar was throwing stiffs a little too much. Parts of the match i was thinking "is this real? what about this?". Pretty scary to watch lol thought he would get genuinely hurt. I mean, Lesnar has been throwing real punches and holding real submissions, he might forgot sometimes he shouldn't actually being hurting people. Mans obviously an IRL dick though.

Also, people on the web are always moaning about a lack of blood (sociopaths) but i think it just makes the occasions it happens seem more shocking.

Anyway, need to stop talking seriously about rasslin.

Badass wrestling game, haven't played that for years. I do own a copy of No Mercy on the N64 though....

I thought it was too much, but I guess that's the price Cena'ndem wanted to pay for "legitimacy" whatever the fuck that means. It's pro wrestling... they haven't fooled anyone it was "legitimate" since about 1989, they really need to get over trying to compete with MMA and just do what made people become fans - be entertaining.

After that and last year's WM match with The Miz, Cena is starting to remind me of a muscled-up Mick Foley. He's desperate to fuck himself up to stay respected. It's a little bit sad really...
