Re: ZOMBY
I swear the same was true with the Burial and Thom Yorke tune, they said 300 had been pressed and yet at least a handful of guys on here who worked in record shops had that number alone. It's seriously lame if they have lied. RSD seems like a bit of a flop if they let you pre order, reserve in store and buy online and limited presses aren't limitedSykotic wrote:lol swear this whole printed 1k copies is a scam
he tweeted last night there were a few copies left at rough trade, i go there an hr ago and i see about 15+ copies wtf

Re: ZOMBY
Surely the more records there are the more money the record stores will make? More copies available for more people to buy is hardly a bad thing. I'm sure there are lots of people who won't have been able to get a copy today who want one.
Isn't the point of RSD to support record stores? If there are more records to buy then more people will be able to support.
The whole limited thing seems to bring out deplorable qualities in people. People start getting angry when they realize they're not one of an elite handful with the record.
I'd just be happy to get a copy. I want it for the tunes.

The whole point is to get people into the shops themselves. For the commercial releases yes it brings out the worst in people an uou get stnuc grabbing everything they see to then sell online.Motorway to Roswell wrote:Surely the more records there are the more money the record stores will make? But for people like me who are after releases like this it is quite frustrating to actually arrange/ book time off work or like me this year ring everybody you know to do you a favour and get up early to que etc to then find out that it is sold online anyway or is repressed like a month later.

Re: ZOMBY
Seems that a record that will undoubtedly sell out ought to have more than 300 made, keeping the pressings limited makes the record more valuable yes, but it also makes it less played on a system too. Really wish I copped Pearson Sounds night slugs 12". That thing needs a repress!

Re: ZOMBY
They do it every time, they did it with the Grace Jones Digital Mystikz remix, everyone scrambled to buy a copy, then the next week it was all over online stores like chemical and such. You will get a copy mate without having to pay a dumb re-sale price.Motorway to Roswell wrote:Surely the more records there are the more money the record stores will make? I think it applies to all the releases. Not just the commercial releases.
They sell them online every year. Remember the Mystikz remix of Grace Jones?

Re: ZOMBY
tbf the vinyl isn't very good. The tunes aren't a consistent volume and most are quiet so I had to keep adjusting the gain which gets frustrating, there are no names on the vinyl only side a and b, normally you can tell where the grooves run out that that's where the next tune is but because this is bright yellow it's nearly impossible and some tunes aren't separated, they're just one long tune so you have to just run through the tune to get the start. It's a shame that Zomby is such a bad DJ and the vinyl is so hard to mix, I've never heard his tunes on a system and I really really want to.
Never mind the fact that most tunes are really short and awkward tempos.
Still one of my favourite albums though, and I guess he's doing something different...

Exactly that release was meant to be limited with no repress and only abailable in store.Motorway to Roswell wrote:Fair enough on trying to get people into the shops.Hibbie wrote:The whole point is to get people into the shops themselves. Then look what happened. I booked a day off work and drove 20 miles to que for an hour, i got one but later on that day it was on chem records or red eye. Then it was repressed a month later.
It is a bit of a slap in the face tbh

Re: ZOMBY
i'm not to stressed as to whether other people can get the loot i got on rsd online in the next week, i'm just stoked to have so many people in the local excited about vinyl... then again, i'm not taking time off of work and driving far, just waking up and strolling so I can see how you could get a little miffed. but as mtw said, has been like that every year so it's hardly a surprise
for me its about the event, rather than the supposed "exclusives"
