Just saying you have posted in here a bunch of times and you seem to be able to churn out good tunes at a decent rate. :)

Hey guys,

Im having a major issue with my bass track on soundcloud....
take a listen
Soundcloud

Any suggestions on how to clean up that digital sound? It only happens when I upload it to soundcloud I think it might be because its converting it to 128kbps. In 320kbps it sounds fine on laptop.... Btw this is just a sub bass and then a saw wave with some distortion layered... The saw wave is rolled off aroun 600 hz and the sub bass covers about 40-220hz.

@1stfiest - that is a cool minimal stepper. with headphones i felt that the release on the reverb was a tad to long (main wob sound) the monitors that bit seemed a bit quite. the sparce hits throw me a little, see if you can bury them in the mix a touch. unless of course that is what you were meaning. overall i think its a good ride. sorry if my 2 cents comes in a bit harsh, take it as a compliment cuz if i take the time to even reply about it your definitely on to something :)

as for the long intro, go study professional tracks of the same genre. you will notice a very strict governance of section duration. keeping tracks inside this template will make your tracks flow easier and help the listener transition from one section to the next smoothly without getting bored, fatigued or overwhelmed

cheers mate and best of luck

Soundcloud

Did some work on it this morning, sounds a little bit more structured now i think, dunno.

Don't have any idea where I'm going with it but I guess i'll experiment and try and learn a few techniques a long the way, I guess. Just gonna fuck about basically. :lol:

Phalanx- nice spacey feel but the samples need some adjustment. they have a lot of background noise you can try adding more reverb to help blend it in but that could just be shitty advice.

crazy-ryan- I don't really understand, I mean if you want just clean sub try using a sine instead of a saw, or get rid of the distortion.

mthrfnk- blackout: fucking love the intro, those strings are boss. Fantastic atmosphere man. I would like to see you incorporate the strings back into the mid section either way nice track man. :W:

BudSpencerton- really diggin the vibes man, great work with those vocal samples man.

here is just something I've been messing with, decided to try something new the drums are just a loop so I need to redo those and quit being lazy :oops:
and I really like how the waveform looks

@Creepfinger - Loving the chilled out vibe, I would bring up the kick and snare quite a bit to make them punch through slightly more, otherwise sounding good through these headphones (Which are not great, hence me posting up here ^^)

@mthrfnk - Really digging the dark, intro to that and the transition into the next bit was amazing, really good sounding track man! Dunno what else to say, can't particularly comment on mix through these them cans, but sounding good! :)

@Phalanx - Not bad for a first time man, agree with the kick drum comment but otherwise sounding deep and mysterious, nice :)

Oh lawd, now it's my turn, children...

Soundcloud

Please tell me what you think, primarily composition wise right now, probably gonna change the 'drop' quite a lot from what it is now and literally no mixing at all has taken place on this track yet, basically all composition / arrangement currently, but thoughts on mix would be useful as my headphones are pretty shite.

Thanks for the feedback. Heh, I don't know why but I completely forgot about doing anything to the sample after i sliced it up and arranged it a little. Reverb should help I think.

Are there any particular decent tutorial's on drums?

@phalanx - its not even that. a different kick sample would just suit the vibe better. try some different kicks. "conceptualize" what sort of space you would want your song(and kick) to be in. haha

Oh and heres a little update on that track. i didnt get much feedback last time ~.~

hey whats up peeps

@ Phalalnx- the track has potential, Very cool sample use.when the track drops i think the drums are a bit to repititive though should try and juggle that kick a bit more. Maybe at the end of your sequence add some variations

@ Spraypaint- Dude track is super cool and original. keep going at it i really like how you juggle those sounds together

@ Creepfinger- really groovey stuff man, id chill to that

heres a new track im working on structures done but let me know if there is anything mixing wise i can do to help it along...or maybe if i should add some samples or something... i dunno this is my first WIP post

xistenzbass- nice intro, really old school and dark sounding. maybe work on your drums sounds a bit more, turn your hats down a bit and add a bit of reverb, maybe use some better samples for you snare, apart from that its sounding nice, well played mate

dj femfresh- nice ideas, id say just work on the sounds, mix the track down better, and eq that bass it sounds muddy. give everything a bit more punch and weight its sounding a bit thin atm

creepfinger- the intro reminds of a really old skream tune, nice vibe throughout the track, just work on some of the drums being slightly more prominent in the mix.
my tune, tis a long way from done yet

@cheeky Heavyweight track!!!!! Also, epic syncopation with the wobbles. I must say, there's not much I can criticize on, this is pretty clean imo. NEEDS A RELEASE ASAP!!!

@xistenzbass Liking the deepness, maybe come down on those hats slightly? You have some clashing of the bass and kick, but can easily be fixed. The bass in the mid section with the wobbles, there's something about it, but it could use some cleaning up. That's pretty much it, can't wait for the full version

@DJ Femfresh I feel like there's too many things going on at once after the drop, maybe get rid of some layers? As for the mix, some brightness on the synths and hats, and you should probably add a pure sine for the sub, it sounds like you just have the main synth going full range. Keep at it, there's definitely some potential there.

So, this song is seriously 2 years in the making, I got writers block, and gave up. My recent purchase of Massive has sparked up that ol flame, and I'm giving this track a 2012 facelift.

@Cheeky-I like the swagger of the percussion and the metallic lead that comes in first. really not feelin the second. Maybe control the wobs of the mettalic one with handrawn filter automation so you can control the pulsing a bit more so it fits better in the time and groove of the song.
@mthrfnk-I think the snare in the beginning is a little over powering. Also the hats in the intro don't seem to really have any purpose or go anywhere. They just sound like they're there just to be there. Maybe try to give them some rhythmic direction? Also the dark vibe of the intro doesn't really match the major key chord changes of the main section
Anddddd my soundriver crashed. so thats all the listening for tonight. here 2ish minutes of a wip im excited about. lmk what you think.

@Rightontime
good intro, sub is really low mate, after the drop IMO not enough bass, but everything else is just fine, melody is great.
@Pyrez
You should add some weight to wobbles, Also, consider change of snare.
@Cheeky
The intro is really dope mate, but also, heavier wobbles. Song reminds me of Bar9 tunes. Nice vox sample btw.
@xistenzbass
huuge tune, i'd add some alyss be style 1 word samples, maybe some delayed hihats or shit. But overall, track is dope.

Okay, mine tune nao. I've decided to make some grime, mix is still shitty, because after listening it for a few times I was like "hmm, do i even like it?" So yeah, comment & give feedback guys, is it worth to even finish this one.

@Pyrez Im lovin this tune. The breaks throughout were good. Refreshing i guess from the filth haha. That last part is kind of random but its cool random. Its just something i would never expect to hear.
@Cheeky Thats the stuff right there! Im digging the samples. I love when people use vocals that are not singing. I do it in almost every song. I think they make a track so much better. Banging track man.
@DJ Femfresh I agree that the drop has too much going on but i think that is because no mixing has been done. Maybe after some mixing the drop will sound tighter and not like you just threw sound in my face. I like the track.

I have been working on this track for a couple of days now. I have had such bad creative block the last week or so. But this just popped into my head and the sample kind of inspired a song. So tell me what to make better!

RightOnTime27: Really nice intro! The drop is cool but I think you should keep the riff from the intro actually and maybe change it in the second drop instead. If not at least add something more in the second drop even though the switch up at 1:59 sits very good. Nice percussions but I would like a bigger kick. Heavy sub and I especially like the bass pitch at 1:42. Solid tune!

Captain Carnage: Cool! I like the ruff style but I think you could work some on the drums. Maybe a deeper kick and snare with more punch (keep the snare but layer it with something punchier). Bass and the subtle wobble is really good and sits very nicely with that synth which in itself is cool. I definitely think you should finish it.

Gaol: I like the intro a lot. The pad, piano and sample works good together. I'm not too sure on the drop though. I was expecting something more ambient or melodic with that intro. I'm also not too keen on the main screeching synth sound to be honest and like it better when it's toned down at 1:03 and in the second drop (the small wobble you use at 1:33 sounds really crisp btw, I think you should use that more!). Finally I think the beat is a bit too minimalistic for that kind of drop. Add some more percussions and it will sound better I think. Mix overall sounds good though.
