Behind the enemy lines again...

i actually took the time to explain it's half tempo and she would be fine if she tried dancing double speed.
I did this to Coki's Shattered recently. Some girls went too far with the "you claim this to be dance music so go ahead, dance, you fucking snob ;--) tee hee"-style of chat so I got up and did. Half and double time, upper body mosh & the usual skank. The debate was cut short in the most satisfying way.

They particularly hated some of the tracks on Skreamism vol. 2, but we managed to find common ground with Rusko's Plastic Strings & Wheel of Fortune. Magical tracks those two. I found it noteworthy that one of them dug Leeds Cru until it dropped :o :o :o

Someone complained to me on Saturday night at a party after 'Grit' dropped that he didn't like dubstep 'cos some of it sounds like garage'.

Some guys I know accidentally ended up in FWD on Friday. One left after 5 mins, another banged on about how ‘avant-garde’ the music was while clearly hating every second, and the others just looked flat out bewildered.
Most people simply don’t get it. ‘How do you dance to this?’ is among the most common phrases I’ve heard.

I had Rogue Star's "No Such Thing As Fate" blasting in my car the other day. The whole car was shaking and vibrating. Someone pulled up next to me at the light and just stared at me for a minute like I was from another planet. :P

I've given up on playing anything electronic in my car when I'm with my friends. Regardless of whether I'm playing dubstep, dnb, house, electro, minimal, whatever - all they ever do is say "this all sounds the same."

I've also had "how long does this song go on for??" a few times if I was playing a mix CD.

I try to be good spirited about it, but it's rather annoying..

One of my best friends told me to keep playing dnb he couldn't sit through the whole mix (dubstep mix) but then later on his wife was playing him my tunes off of myspace and telling him she liked it a lot more than dnb. He called and told me he was starting to get into it.

Another dood, a dnb dj asked if the record was supposed to be like that. As in, shouldn't it be on 45. A common one I guess.

Other than that not much. Pittsburgh is diggin' so far.

I was playing dnb last week... some classic nuero techy shit... dood came up and I made him wait as I was about to mix in a tune (the nerve of some people) then asked me to play something darker  Prolly wanted to hear some pots and pans bullshite. You really can't win with this brand of music. I don't mind being the asshole though.

This must be my all-time favourite. Or is it when someone asked for a certain artist WHILE I was playing something by, guess, the very same artist?

Well, if we get this kind of wisdom from a fellow dj, it feels akward to demand unprejudiced listening from the punters...
