production help (chorus 2 vers transitionin)

hi everyone, im a newcomer and a beginner in producing, all i know is the basics like 140 bpm is dubstep, kick and snares where to put them and such :p but ehm, ive been workin on this one tune and the whole proces just stopped because i didnt knew what to do next and didnt know if i was doin it the right way. so here's the situation: lets say we start a new proj, we create a melody wich consists of 8 beats, we multiply it 4x copy paste and say its our chorus, but my question is now IS IT TECHNICALY WRONG TO TRANSITION AND CONTINUE TO A VERSE OF MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL 8 BEATS OF THE CHORUS? FOR EX IF WANTED A 16 BEAT VERSE THERE. thats kinda the problem: when the chorus 2 verse transition hits, its sounds more as if its being mixed than being a whole song in one. anyone else expierenced this puzzle?

First off, nothing is wrong in art... That's the awesome thing about it, just do whatever you think is awesome.

You could make a verse with 17 bars if you wanted to... About the whole mixing thing, you just have to make sure that you keep certain elements going in both parts (chorus & verse) to make it feel like it's a joined unity.
For example, don't change from like Em to G#m keys in those transitions. Try and keep certain elements and/or keys the same to keep the song feeling as a whole.

the key on the 1st beat of the chorus is an A, so naturally i put the same A on the 1st beat of the verse as a continuation right but even if its the same key, makin it last longer(16beats) kinda changes the whole fuckin thing jhgsejfgs<ejgfj thats where im pissed, letting such a beatiful verse go to waste. thanks for the reply koen <3

What I'll do is make my intro consist of a pad and some fx and the introduce the hats then maybe throw in some 808's just to make it a little different then at the drop is when I'll introduce a new element and my kicks and snares and subs

Do you mean key or note. If your tune is in the key of A then you're using the A major/minor scale which consists of more than just the note A.

Verse > Chorus transitions tend to be based on some kind of alteration to the main motif used in the verse, just switch up one of the elements slightly, bring in something new, take out something old, alter something e.t.c. Too much and you have your issue, it sounds like a different tune, too little and it sounds reptitive. The trick is balance. Just play around until you have something that works and don't expect anything you'll actually like for quite a while. Practice is practice is practice.

^helluw and yes i ment note, but guys, what do u think if i considered that chorus to be an actual lead to the drop(=wich i would consider the verse)i mean then its allright for it to sound diferent right? current duration of the chorus now= 0:55 so ithought most tunes drop somewhere around there.. so is this problem fixed now? ty
