Does anyone know why so many dubstep artists use transition studios?

The people whom run Transition Studios have been mastering Dubstep since the start; it was the studio of choice for most of the early Londoner producers as they knew how to handle the low frequencies and their plates are of a good quality! Not as many people use it these days as you may think.Marcus wrote:Does anyone know why so many dubstep artists use transition studios?
Mastering Engineers are a bit of finding a good pub; if a few of your mates go to a certain pub and know the landlords, you'll find yourself going to that pub more than any other because of that initial introduction to the staff - it instantly brings a nice environment to drink in and you trust the barman if you ask for a recommendation on a drink.
I'm guessing people got introduced to Jason at Transition when asking around where to get some dubs cut and their popular grew from word of mouth and people going "getting a dub cut today if you fancy coming along". Doesn't mean their mastering is the best - its just a trusted studio!

I think a forthcoming medi ep is being mastered elsewhere though.legend4ry wrote:The people whom run Transition Studios have been mastering Dubstep since the start; it was the studio of choice for most of the early Londoner producers as they knew how to handle the low frequencies and their plates are of a good quality! It really would be awesome to only have to write songs. Then again , I do enjoy a lot of the technical things that come along w/ sound design, and synthesis and I love mixing. OK I just need Master(er)
Yeah, lots of hip-hop dudes only have to worry about making beats. Leave the mixing for someone else. even 9th wonder said something to the effect of "we mix our own stuff, you really just have to jump in there. there's no school that teaches you how to mix".
on the other hand, I'd rather just be the "creative", leave all that other shit for the mixing engineer.

I've been saying something like this for a while, mixdowns arent as important in the hip hop scene compared to dubstep... I get the same feelin from the hip-hop dudes I knowknotoo wrote:Theo Void wrote:Pretty sure most of them have mixing engineers and definitely someone else mastering.

I've always thought a great name for an EDM boy band would be MaxPatch 20
Re: How much do the "big names" mix and master their own tra
motherfucker came out of retirement to say that
Re: How much do the "big names" mix and master their own tra
Don't really do it for me,maxpatch 20 sounds like something women would use to stop menstruating in there under garments.
