Ah no it's not about money for me! My life goal is to be able to support myself through my music, but I'll be perfectly content if I can just do it a lot as a hobby and have to support myself through some other job. Getting "rich" or "big" through music isn't really a goal of mine.
Why? I said I DON'T make music for money - it wouldn't be that interesting to write film score or w/e
little misleading
sorry, I think I was unclear - I'd love to be able to support myself through my music, but making money is not anywhere in my priorities for why I make music - essentially what I'm saying is I wouldn't make music for the money

burial has collabs with massive fucking attack, I can imagine he making money off cd sales and royalties only. Plus, he probably plays out, you just don't know that it's Burial.
heh there are pictures of burial out there, he's not completely anonymous i'm pretty sure he'd be spotted rather quickly
but yea like i said earlier as an edm artist you have the opportunity to earn multiple types of royalties on your releases and sustain it beyond the initial mechanical royalties

Right. Why is it such taboo to say your goal is to make music for a living, like you'll lose internet street cred because you 'aren't doing it for the love of music'.

there's nothing evil about wanting to get paid, it's why labels and releases exist as much as people like to dismiss it MUSIC IS A BUSINESS
it's the people who think that a scene or music owes them rather than a nice bonus or as a result of hard work and effort that the issue comes up
