Komonazmuk Tutorial

Post by NoodLEz » Mon May 07, 2012 1:57 pm

Has anyone watched the Computer Music Masterclass Tutorial by Komonazmuk?..

I have been trying to understand his guide on the basic setup within Logic Pro.

So far I understand -

All Ultrabeat drums are seperated to their own channels.

Drum channels are then sent to a Buss named Drum Buss.

Do the same for Bass, Musical, Fx and Vocal channels.

All faders at 0db position.

Calibrate Logic Pro with 1k test tone sine.

Send test tone to Drum Buss and insure meter reads 0db and on master.

Insert compressor on the Drum Buss.
Settings - Ratio 6.1
Reduce Threshold until 1k tone reads -1db reduction
Set attack, Release so no "pumping"
Turn Output Gain up till 1k tone reads back to 0db.

Now this is where Im confused..

I assume an EQ is inserted after the Compressor (Komonazmuk uses a Liquid Mix and I cant make out if EQ is Pre or Post Compressor.

100hz boost at 1db
8k boost at 1db
Reduce EQ Master Out to -2db

From what I can make out in the Tutorial, 0db shows on the Logic meter, On mine it shows -2db??

I understand its logical for this to happen because of the -2db reduction at the EQ but according to Komonazmuk the levels should still be reading 0db?..

Please help anyone..

Many Thanks,

Noodlez.
