Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
So the way i'm pretty much doing it (cause i don't know any other way) is by dragging each slice from fruity slicer to its own channel. But the problem is that when I do that, each chop moves up a semitone in pitch, and this becomes extremely aggravating because then i have to go through each chop and tune it down a couple notes. can ANYONE offer some advice ? I just dl'ed a huge jungle break pack so i have a lot of work to do, and i need to solve this problem

Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
Drop those breaks into Edison. While you are there, look around, you will be spending a lot of time in there.
Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
You could try fruity granulizer, and pick the rearranging drumloops thingy, it's not as accurate but it's quicker
just remember to pick the sound you want to chop first, then the preset

What do you mean slice is making everything go up a semi-tone; never done that for me, ever!

Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
OP is talking about first gen fruity slicer, I'm thinking that something is happening when the sample is dragged, it is bringing its trigger note as the root pitch into the sampler. I haven't seen that, but point remains, Edison is the place to do your slicing.

Just use slicex, if you have the producer edition. You can route the hits to different mixer channels, and you can apply a fuckload of envolopes and filters to your hit before it even hits the mixer. It also feels alot like edison, so if you're used to that (*ahemnowaysjahem*) it's quite easy to get into.

Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
Maybe op is trying to get his slices into the step sequencer to be programmed that way?
Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
i just dragged the full break as an audio track into the sequencer and chopped in there, probably a terrible way of doing it though
Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
Whatever works.
Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
Dont skip class, learn edison. If you spend an hour of your time now it will come back to you ten fold. and chicks will like you more.
Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
yeah, it's hard to explain, i drag each slice into the step sequencer, and my problem is that as i drag, they go up in pitch. I knew Edison held the key! I'll start dragging there, any important tricks on edison i need to know ? Thanks alot dudes

Fav audio editor. I can just fly in there. Wish it could output samples at 24 bits though. Huge liability to me.
Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
haha did it! chucked an amen in there, auto-sliced that shit, then just dragged each one to it's own pattern. Genius!
These unregioned loops and the tempos are really fucking with me though. Ah, oh well, perseverance

Re: Chopping Breaks in Fruity Loops
I think maybe you need to reset the pitch and time stretch in the new sample's channel settings after you drag it. Just a guess, but the slicer never did that for me either when I used it. I always thought the slicer was one of the best things FL had.-TraX- wrote:yeah, it's hard to explain, i drag each slice into the step sequencer, and my problem is that as i drag, they go up in pitch. Wish they could slice on eighths though, fuck 1/16's and 1/4's.
