Re: Logic for PC?
I've heard people comparing Logic to Cakewalk's Sonar... Don't take me serious though I have not worked with either of them.

On a slightly different topic, is there a way to put Logic onto a PC without an emulator or without using an early version of Logic?
Cheers![]()
I like the layout of Logic but I'm certainly not willing to shed out on a Mac just for that. I wanted a Mac ages ago when I wanted to get back into computer programming but they're really off putting to me, I don't want to end up like those people who worship Macs and act like they're infinitely better than PCs.

this x1000 one of my mates is the worst for this, he tries to rub it in that he has a mac and that theyre superior to pc's but when you ask him why theyre superior he gets really defensive and doesnt give you an answer ( he's not the type to know any technical info so im guessing its based purely from the asthetics)Muncey wrote: I like the layout of Logic but I'm certainly not willing to shed out on a Mac just for that. Lets not let this turn into mac vs pc debate tho cos that always gets messy
Re: Logic for PC?
it doesn't have to get messy.... it's simple. PC retailers mostly suck, but all specs equal, the components and performance are equal to a mac, which costs at least twice as much, can't be customized or you ruin your warranty, and apple care is a disgrace. Flat fees for fixing any minor problem, no matter how crippling it is.
Their packaging and cosmetic design are superior, as are their general OS features. They can come put together from a certain "value-added" retailer I went through, with my RAM ugrade, UAD and all software installed. Its performance is terrific, but I could get loads better specs for what i paid through a different manufacturer. But, i wouldn't now how to put it together and I'd have a horrible time operating the machine once its powered on. I hate windows . I am far too busy and unskilled to set up a hackintosh.
The mac OSX has enslaved me and I'm technologically inept, but I love my computer. That's the only legitimate reason to choose mac.

Re: Logic for PC?
macs are only "a lot more" than pc's depending on the model you're talking about. a mac pro desktop yes is very fucking expensive, it also has xeon chips in it edging some more horsepower than you'd get in comprable pc's, but they're definitely for the money is no object crowd. but if you talk about macbook pro's, $1200 for a laptop that nice is not bad at all, totally on par with other big name brand pc manufacturers laptops, and $200 for logic vs. $500-ish for ableton/cubase, and macs arn't that stupidly priced.
it all comes down to preference of DAW and operating system (if your DAW of choice happens to be cross platform).
that said, echoing what others have said, i don't see apple ever making logic for pc as the first thing they did when buying emagic was to make the app mac-only, and they've really taken it under their wing and made it thee apple music app.

Re: Logic for PC?
Spend the same amount building a PC that you would spend on a MAC Pro and you would have something comparable to a double rainbow
Re: Logic for PC?
One thing that I like about macs is that all the components are made by apple so if there's a problem there arnt hoops to jump through to get it fixed.... At least that's been my experience with problems that aroused on my pc
But really the only difference between Mac and pc is how the OS looks both machines can be equally as powerful

Re: Logic for PC?
almost every product on the line, toe to toe with an equally spec'd out windows machine, costs way more.
As i stated, a large part of the appeal is i'm a total computer moron and cannot put together my own machine, so I'm never gonna be hip to that whole groove
And as per the parts being built by apple ,this is true and used to mean something, but they've off-shored all that manufacture to China and components have noticeably dropped in quality (source: my company's been macfags for 15 years, in the first ten not a single HDD or RAM failure. In the past 3, rampant parts malfunctions. Cheaper electronics, assembly, QC etc.

Re: Logic for PC?
I have many friends like this as well. Most all of the MAC user's I know don’t know much about computers... that's why they have a MAC. PC's take some knowledge and proper upkeep to insure they will run good for a long time. People that don’t know much about computers can't seem to do this, so they get a mac because they keep "breaking" their PC's. They think that because their past experiences with PC computers were so bad, that it's the PC's fault; never taking into account all the things they did wrong that caused the death of their PC's. That’s why most all mac users tat I know will tell you that mac’s are far superior than pc’s, but when you ask they why, they can’t tell you… Because they have no idea. All they know is that they didn’t break it like they did all their past pc’s… so to them, that makes the mac far better for everyone in the world hands down.JTMMusicuk wrote:this x1000 one of my mates is the worst for this, he tries to rub it in that he has a mac and that theyre superior to pc's but when you ask him why theyre superior he gets really defensive and doesnt give you an answer ( he's not the type to know any technical info so im guessing its based purely from the asthetics)Muncey wrote: I like the layout of Logic but I'm certainly not willing to shed out on a Mac just for that. You'll notice Im taking about mac users i know, not all mac users. So don't send the mac police.

Re: Logic for PC?
All the components are not made by Apple. Actually very few parts in a MAC are made by apple. They just want you to think the hardware is super special. guess who makes the hardware in your expencive MAC computer? Same people that make the parts for everyone elses computers.ehbrums1 wrote:One thing that I like about macs is that all the components are made by apple so if there's a problem there arnt hoops to jump through to get it fixed.... CPU's are made by Intel
Video Cards are made by Nvidia
Some Motherboards are made by Gigabyte
Screen's are made by Samsun
can't remeber who makes their RAM, but it's not them.

Re: Logic for PC?
The reason macs seem superior is because they don't run like 30+ processes when idling, making them seem faster than they really are when comparing them to pcs.

thats true but part of the reason (as someone who isn't going to tinker with many settings) that Windows is a pile of shit OS

Re: Logic for PC?
MAC OS is more stable because it doesn't use a registry like windows... but at the same time mac's are far less compatible with 3rd party software and components.
But I'm an idiot, so take it for what its worth.

Re: Logic for PC?
i sure enjoy playing my video games on OSX... oh wait
also macs components are pieced together from other companies (gasp like any PC), the only thing that apple really makes is their shiny designer cases and keyboard and mice

Re: Logic for PC?
Presonus Studio One is alot like Logic, but cross platform
Re: Logic for PC?
mac isn't better/worse than PC, but if you make music professionally-- I can't think of a studio in the states that I've seen in the last 10 years that was running a PC. I've seen more standalone RADAR units than i have PC's.
FWIW, aside from AVID, the majority of the top-shelf creative programs--- photoshop, FCP, protools-- ran MUCH better on mac's 10 years ago. hence the investment in that platform across the industry.
We won't see Logic rereleased for PC in our lifetime.
