Just thought I'd mention something about Sub Bass. Technically it's never supposed to be heard but felt, that's why its called 'sub' bass, because its below the level of human hearing. If you're having trouble 'hearing' sub bass it will still be there but as some people have already mentioned can only be noticed on systems with particularly low bass response, I can say from what you've said, that the channels level meter is saying its apparently going into the red, but you're still barely able to hear it, that whatever system you're using to listen to it on isn't capable of generating such low bass response. Try it out on a system with a sub woofer, until then rely on the peak meter on the sub's channel, if its expressing amplitude, it's there.

So when i have like 10 separate bass tracks with different patterns plus a sub bass track, i should low cut the modulated bass tracks like at 100hz and leave the rest for sub bass?

i usually roll off the sub frequencies above 90hz. boost the sub at 60hz. lowpass under 30hz. and turn the res up a bit. MAYBE split frequencies, and add distortion to the higher bass frequencies. add a compressor, sidechain to kicks which are usually 90-100hz for me.

this may not be helpful to you in this situation though, cuz i cut out below 100hz on every sound, besides kicks and sub bass.

I've only just started out, really, so I'm not in a position to offer much, but one of the first and most important things I learnt was getting the sub to sit at the right level. Before I was cranking it up to sound satisfying while I was making a tune... I made sure it wasn't in the red, but my face certainly was when I played a tune on my mate's (much better) system and it came out a horrible, farting mess. So I'd echo what others have said, don't worry about it too much, try it out on a better system when you get the chance and it will come through and sit just right.
