Distance talking about how he likes Korn
Was just listening to the original Dubstep Warz, and right before his set, Distance just comes on and talks for like 30 seconds about his influences etc. He specifically called out Korn as the one group that was really inspirational to him and was a huge influence.
Just kind of interesting, seeing as they get a huge amount of hate now for collaborating with skrillex etc
food for thought, I wonder what he thinks of them now

Re: Distance talking about how he likes Korn
i'm not embarassed to say i was heavily influenced by Korn as a young lad. they had a really unique heavy sound due to their use of drop D tuning and 5 string bass guitars, they were heavy but funky, they expressed alot of the teenage angst that people were feeling (especially me and everyone else in 7th grade at the time,) they really captured that moment where metal took some of the funk from rap and electrified it. i don't give a fuk what anyone says, the first 2 Korn albums were awesome and still hold up. the problem is they basically fell off after that. they did what they did and then it seemed they ran out of ideas , and unfortunately they quickly became obsolete. i don't like anything they've put out since Follow the Leader but yeah i give them mad respect for being a great band from the 90s

well, that's not really surprising seeing how j devil basically invented dubstep back in the 90s..
Re: Distance talking about how he likes Korn
There's nothing wrong with that. Korn actually used to be kind of good. They are associated with shit music now because they are putting out shit music now.

wasn't he a drummer in a rock band? I remember reading he came from a rock background as opposed to grime/2step/dnb like most producers. Also isn't V made with guitars?

Distance does looks like the type to play lead guitar in a prog shred death metal band.

Re: Distance talking about how he likes Korn
The first two Korn albums would have been good without J Dickhead singing.
Guessing Distance isn't a fan of their last record maybe but that shouldn't really matter.
I think I remember hearing somewhere that Distance is a big fan of Pantera too. That definitely gets a thumbs up from me.

Korn have some big tunes i'd be lieing if I didnt say i enjoyed my fair share of heavy metal when i was growing up. It was only a phase tho that turned into much calmer stuff. Still got a lot of love for The Stone Roses and will be heading to their gig in Manchester at the end of June. Ian Brown is an absolute icon for me and his single stuff is fucking ace.
One of my favourite vids on youtube. (tune: Set My Baby Free - Ian Brown)
Sorry. Got a little side tracked there but In regards to distance, ive always felt his tunes have a heavy metal influence to them anyway. I think everyone can tell that..

Think its pretty clear what his music has been influenced by, most of his tracks have the same guitar synth in them.
