from my experience, if a label is serious about signing ur music, its becuase they have discovered u, not listened to some crummy demo sent via the inevitable soundcloud dropbox.

but of course it varies from person to label. u really gotta no the "online" scene well, there is no point sending ur first demo to swamp flush. its so naive to even think they will bother with u, u have to be pretty special, i think jimmy edgar i read somewhere is on his 5th album now, so u see, shit takes time. start with a label that is relatively unknown, if u really want to send ur music out to someone.

the music industry is built upon networking, the more u network, the greater ur chances of getting ur music heard by someone that matters.

Why is it so important you get signed by anyone that'll have you?
Approach labels that you think your sound matches and in the same respect, labels that feel that they match your music will get in contact eventually.

What IS your experience, if you don't mind me asking? Plenty of labels, especially smaller ones, seem to favour that method.

Mate you need to get the balance right between background/filling sounds (ambiance if you will) and the rest of your track. They balance is either off volume wise (too upfront in the mix) or there's soundclash (ie melodic clashes) between your filler and the actual beats.

I somewhat enjoyed the third track I have to say. Don't make music to get signed is all I can say. It will turn out crap 9/10. Make music for yourself, it will be better and it might actually get a worthwhile signing over time.

my experience is signing some house i made to a label from italy and my dubs to a label from ireland, no im not an expert and dont worry im not making much in terms of money,

but all im saying is that as long as u send ur music to soundlcoud groups, its of a reaonsable standard, there are people out there looking to sign people, from there u can build a fanbase by mixing their followers with urs.

its a slow, uncomfortable ride but its what has to be done and im pleased with my progress, a year ago i would have never thought i would be persuading people to buy my tunes let alone they be on itunes.

I've easily spent 8+ hours on soundcloud every time i search for new tunes

(but if you're goner send a demo, send it via soundcloud its the best way imo)
