the cyrex on soundcloud cant produce because any1 could do what he does just by using windows sound recorder since he litterally does fuck all to the sounds.. not even moving them a semitone, its 100% pure pasting!
EDIT: i am referin to his songs from 6 months ago, i havent bothered checking his newer Ctrl+V bullshit

@OP: I think you learnt the most important lesson in music production: stay off internet forums where view points are different in the exactly same way.

What you need:

1. A DAW; Ableton or Reason would be your best bet.
2. An all round VST if you get Ableton; Massive, Gladiator, Alchemy, Zebra2 are worth a look.
3. A MIDI keyboard; you don't need to go new, you might even have an old Casio keyboard kicking about with MIDI on it.

And if you fully get into it:

4. An external sound card.
5. A pair of studio headphones or, more of an investment, monitors.

And that's it. If you can't make a decent beat with that then you never will.

and a good DAW obviously, Ableton or FL Studio or Logic if you have a mac

I reckon saving up for decent monitors > midi keyboard.

In fact, the things I'd rather have than a midi keyboard:

Good audio interface.
Good Monitors.
Good Sub.
Good headphones (already got these).
A second computer screen, if only just for a mixer and SPAN (shit gets congested)
High quality plugins (freeware can get you a very long way though, especially if you know who bootsy is)

I'd reckon you'd have more important things to save up for than a midi keyboard.
