Re: May 48 HOUR Comp SEMI FINALS VOTING!!!
I just figured people wouldn't really want a feedback thread bleeding into the competition.

Re: May 48 HOUR Comp SEMI FINALS VOTING!!!
i'd love to hear some feedback. Keeps me going. There's been countless times when i've finished a tune and thought, 'yeah, dead pleased with that one, rekon it's ready to get pressed' and then asked for feedback and discovered one or two things I missed. It's great to hear other people's opinions on your work.

Re: May 48 HOUR Comp SEMI FINALS VOTING!!!
Sorry, I've been absorbed by Diablo 3 the passed couple days. Anyway, mine was Charlie for those who were wondering.
As far as the thread voting goes. The first 48 hour contest I entered, the finals were voted on this way. Each round was it's own thread with the finals having the poll removed. You didn't have to say why you voted for one or the other. It was just a matter of posting the name of the track you wanted to vote for. If some people felt the urge to explain their vote then it definitely wasn't discouraged.
It really doesn't bother me either way. I honestly doubt anyone is really tampering with the votes. if they are then they aren't really doing anything for themselves. To me this competition is more about pride than anything. How proud can you be of yourself when you know you fixed the votes so you would win.

Re: May 48 HOUR Comp SEMI FINALS VOTING!!!
hey what's up. i forgot what my track was called but it was the humorous cheesed out dj guy talking over love songs. I recorded it friday night while exploring in Second Life. I found a club where all these couples were dressed up in evening gowns and tuxedos. I sampled as much as I could of the dj cutting in and out of songs and saying some really funny stuff in his "sexy" voice. Then just cut it up and added some 808 & breaks.
Great tunes all. Btw, isn't there an option when making a poll where it will just show what account voted for which poll option? I am also playing diablo3 all night, and listening to ufabulum on repeat. scary atmosphere. peace

On a similarly related note to before one of my dreams last night was about dynamic reduction (with a track going up to -3 db rms) this confirms it I need to give the studio a rest for a bit
I had a dream about -3 or -6 db the other night, too, fuckin trippy
and massive beat, foxtrot should have won that imo.. send that track to Distance or something
Re: May 48 HOUR Comp SEMI FINALS VOTING!!!
Tbh yes it seems like i'll stop offering the prize. The reason I offered it in the first place was to bring more attention/participants to the contest as I believe it deserves it. It was obviously with the hope that people would not take advantage of the holes in the voting system. I mean it's alot more fun if there are more entries, it's kinda shit to have less than 16 entries imo, 1st round is then a mass elimination with mostly 3 or 4-way battles.wub wrote:If this is really bothering some people enough, then my advice would be to stop offering prizes - reckon the problem would sort itself out is nothing tangible was at stake.
Concerning the voting, I really don't want to take votes by posting, although it would perhaps be more objective it's way too chaotic and it becomes cluttered fast. Voting in the poll for each battle isn't mandatory, but even if you don't like both tracks you probably prefer one over the other. That's the point of it anyway, let the, according to you, better track through. But like i said, don't feel obligated. I also feel like the votes go down each round the comp progresses. I imagine the people who get knocked out lose interest as there is nothing be gained anymore (prize or no prize). In the end it's a community thing which requires contribution from us all (those interested in this) to work. Given the time I put into organizing this, the least you (the people reading this thread) can do is vote for the tracks you like or think are worth it. If you can't see the bigger picture, which wub described nicely, of this competition and are just in it for the win/ego boost then why bother?
Don't see no problem with feedback, if someone feels like giving feedback to tunes then go ahead, can't imagine anyone not wanting some constructive feedback.
EDIT: Feedback for me on running this and/or suggestions to make this competition better are always welcome. Just post them here
Re: May 48 HOUR Comp SEMI FINALS VOTING!!!
Should have let nwj in this match
Re: May 48 HOUR Comp SEMI FINALS VOTING!!!
Make it a sticky that is posted on all boards to get more people involved(well hopefully)
Thing is once the voting starts for each round it just starts to drop down the board.I think sticky it next comp and see if the voting improves.

Haha, don't make me feel guilty, you know I would gladly see you in this if you wouldn't have messed up the time of the deadline for yourselfnowaysj wrote:Should have let nwj in this match
I'm down as it's worth a try, but it's up to Wub, unless it's outside his jurisdiction.lloydy wrote:Make it a sticky that is posted on all boards to get more people involved(well hopefully)

Great, just noticed both battles are tied again, nice...
maybe someone votes in the remaining 19 minutes
Re: May 48 HOUR Comp SEMI FINALS VOTING!!!
Alpha 29% [ 14 ]
Golf 29% [ 14 ]
Lima 20% [ 10 ]
Quebec 22% [ 11 ]
Quebec advances to the finals. Leaves us with 1 tie. Will update the poll for the tiebreaker, which will run for the next 24 hours. If it's still a tie after this I'm flipping a coin.
EDIT: Tie-breaker poll is up

Only thing I could really say is that the drops sounded almost too similar. I know it was 48 hours but I still would have liked a little more variation.

Tied, again....
Tossing a coin, alpha heads, golf tails.... and it's tails. Golf goes to the final.

Re: May 48 HOUR Competition FINALS!
So close
It's a tight final! My tune was alpha for those that hadn't guessed. For a tune I aint overly happy with that took a couple of hours to make, i'm fairly happy with the results. Cheers for voting those who did.
