Thanks for the link. I really do hope this notion of Grindie dies a very sudden and horrible death, leaving Grime to develop on its own terms.

grindie is interesting on some levels. the forced marriage of two seemingly incongruous genres, grime perhaps piggybacking on indies' sucess and culture of fanboy devotion. but it's not really doing anything as halfway as sonically interesting as grime on its own.

all this came out of bloc party wanting grime remixes which is fair enough. grime artists remixing indie artists, even playing on the same bill, i can handle. trying to forge some kind of movement out of it is misguided.

statik is a really good producer imho but this isn't really an avenue which warrants much exploration.

imagine dubstepindie - argh!

argh! indeed ... it'd prob be more like shoegazerstep or somthing even more horrible . . .

I mean, in my weaker (drunker) moments I almost enjoy bloc party, kasier chiefs etc. as pop groups go, but the hype surrounding these bands over here makes them fairly unbearable,

Its funny tho bcos one of the tings I love about Grime, n dubstep, is that that fanboy culture is less a part of it. There is more of an emphasis on being involved and not just consuming ... but if it means a few grime producers can make a few squids n bang out some more whites its all good by me :D

I really enjoyed The Street's Bloc Party remix, but that's probably because it really stopped being a Bloc Party song and became a Streets' song with Bloc Party samples.

I was half interested in buying Grindie, but this may save me some disappointment.

its kind of nasty but ppretty compelling in places. im startled byu the fact that statik managed to beatmatch all these tunes.

also JME over Kraftwerk - Numbers is a timeless moment.

So is this worth downloading at all?
All these originals are music i kind of try to hide my familiarity to while on this forum....i kind of dont even want to know what this sounds like, i mean a bob dylan refix it just seems so wrong, wrong wrong...like waking up with the wrong woman
but wow what an interesting genre thanks for bringing to my attention

that is pretty hilarious. they already have that other remix album too...which was actually pretty nice, but what kind of band is this with all the remixes... nuts.

You can really hear the time-stretch chewing at the guitars innit.
