Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
I'm reinstalling the game again, and when i apply the patch i'll just turn of alll security when i do. The game itself, pre-patch, gave me red crosses next to all the on line servers, even though it gave me pings and details and all, so i guess i have to figure out how to add the game to exceptions. And the game generally kept crashing when i did something too fast, like move or click.wormcode wrote:All firewalls and such off? Even that default Windows one? I GOT TO PLAY! I GOT TO PLAY AND IT DIDN'T CRASH!
Well my first experience was in the pitch black, so i left. I joined a US server, and got surrounded by zombies still in the water, and didn't know how to actually fire my gun and i died. Lame but...

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
ha i know that feeling dontgiveashit! Took me ages to get it working at the start. You start to get the hang of it well though, when to try another server and stuff.
Had a wicked run just now. Was on a server chatting to a couple people on global chat, then got murked. Respawned, and asked where this group of guys was. Ran from elektro to cherno (only maybe 20 mins or something) and after sneaking my way into the city met up with 3 of em at the docks. Ended up getting split up, but me and this guy called Jan went on ab epic little mission through cherno. Know its a bit of a noobland to bomb around, but had never not seen someone and shot them/died before lol Was good fun. Eventually we had to back ourselves into this building after being seen, and took out a few of them that had heard us. Jan then went downstairs to check out what was going on. Like 30 secs later he came back up the stairs and started blapping me straight away! Well, he didnt, but everyone has the same skin (except bandits) and i just assumed it was him. Went down thinking "naaah, Jan wouldnt"
I stayed in the chat for a min though and Jan came back and twatted the bastard. Good vengeance, badman. Was well fun cruising around with someone else...
And ive got it running niicely now! Not exactlly pro stuff, but im running at 1280x1024 pretty well on mostly medium and some high settings. Not exactly got a supercomputer either. E7300 2.7ghz dual core processor, 8800gts nividia graphics card (a good 4 years old, and like 40 quid back then off ebay) and 2gb of ram. Still, im mooore than happy with these graphics! Thought i was going to have to settle for much worse.

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
mate of mines got it running alright on a few year old laptop with no real graphics card. Worth giving the demo a try!
Got to admit though, fps is fairly important. When my computers running well (after a few hours it can begin to freeze up a bit) its alot easier to run and keep an eye on everywhere around you with higher fps. So intense when you end up doing that naturally, just checking around you holding alt all the time. Get a real sense for where you are...the map has blown me away as well. Absurdly realistic! Not so much in graphics (especially on my computer) but the actual design of the terrain feels so real. Epic!

You'll need a blood transfusion which apparently you have to be given.wobbles wrote:wow ok so i finally got to play a legit session,

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
Waay! Just met up with a mate of mine in game for the first time. Were both somewhere near cherno, and with a few phonecalls nearly linked up...before we both got reamed by a bunch of bandits. Still, was funny. Anyway, we then both reconnected to the same server and spawned in the same place! Got on some little missions for an hour or so, eventually ending up swamped in zombies in a little town on the coast. Again, was pretty entertaining. Not the best played dayz, but meh, were just playing around really. Planning on getting skype n that hooked up after work tonight, then see if we can do this properly!
Playing this game with some mates over teamspeak things is going to make this ridiculously good!!

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
I dont have a microphone but i do have anxiety over talking to people
EDIT:Actually got to play for more than three mins without dying. I spawned on a dock and near some silos.Didn't know where to go, so i climbed up one of the silos. Scoped the environment and saw a few players killing each other. Didn't want to get spotted so i layed still till they left. Just about to get up when a Zombie climbed up the silo and freaked me out! I shot it three times and got a head shot. Climbed down and went to the furthest end of the dock, and saw a huge group of zombies had spawned where i came from. Had to avoid them , so i decided to swim. Bad idea, i didn't know you lost stuff. So i realised halfway that swimming across the bay would take agesssss, so i decided to swim back. I encountered a swimming Zombie, he murked me for about 20 seconds before i managed to get to the shore and shot him dead. I bandaged up but i couldn't figure out how to get loot from him! So i decided to end myself and research these things lol.
I'm currently dipping in and out of EpicNL1, and my player name is Depricode if you want to try and find me and kill me.
