I like Aphex Twin, I just think he's incredibly overrated. Went on the /mu/ board the other day and the sheer amount of people rating SAW 85-92 is just ridiculous.

And Snares vs. RDJ aren't really comparable, imo. Different musical styles and intentions.

I was just comparing them because they are so often lumped together. In fact, if i had to rate all the well known and influential "IDM" acts it would go:

Snares > Mike Paradinas > Amon Tobin (purely on Foley Room and ISAM) > Aphex > Autechre > Boards of Canada > Squarepusher

i have everything snares and rdj have done, i can see the comparison and i cant at the same time.....a few years ago i would have said i prefered snares but rdj tunes will last a lot better i can see now

whilst snares has the odd tune that ventures into ambient territory his stuff is generally a bit more one dimensional

i like this tune though

I loathe that term. Also, fuck anybody who uses "emotional" to describe music (or "heartfelt", "passionate" etc if we're talking about lyrics). What the fuck does that mean? That artist can use and evoke emotions and others can't?

Trip-hop is elevator music. Have yet to hear a tune that didn't bore the hell out of me. The same goes for Boards of Canada. Highly overrated imo.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why do people think 50s dad haircuts and boat shoes look good.

I hate self-important bandwagoning hipsters who think they're tastemakers because they run a blog on trap, lo-fi rnb, synth wankery, Burial clones or whatever juke/acid house (aka bullshit "bass music") fact/xlr8r/ra say it's cool.

Beer and meat are disgusting.
