If I must be brutally honest, leave feedback for 3 other tracks.

damn it now my critique will look disingenuous

lightshapers: Great stuff but the lead could probably either use more automation or effects of some sort, if not then maybe turn it down a bit for the drop

dougriley: classic vibe, but the bass could probably use some subtle saturation and effects

ryno: would sound really good cranked up but the intro is kind of boring. maybe add some quiet ambient elements?

Thanks to those that commented on my tune Flux. Lots of kind words and helpful remarks! big up!

@1stfiest: you asked what I used to manipulate the bass. Its a bit to much to describe all the details but the main sound is coming from albino pretty standard reese although there are multiple instances with different manipulations (env/filter/etc). All of them with 2 notches filters too. These sounds are all layered with vanguard. EQ all that, compress more EQ. Split freq, then the biggest trick (or at least the one with the most impact) a self written PSP nitro patch with some chorus and flang. Another notch filter. More EQ en compressing to put the split freqs nicely together. more EQ (most of the mentioned things are really subtle so instead of doing multiple big cuts/boosts I kept it with small adjustments. Both Albino en Vanguard tracks are send to a Guitar rig patch some goes for some drum work which caused some nice incidentals. And last a sub track.

Hope that answered it a bit for ya :)

hurlingdervish- This song is very light. Try thickening it up b/c I know where you are going and I can be sickk!

nzym- Oh hello DATSIK! Haha. I like how you take it out for a walk. Try making your samples pan a slight bit.

jakedubber- Loving the feel for sure! The drags are good. When your song breaks around 1.22 you should add some room to your snares.

And here is my own WIP.
Thanks for being critical!

the only thing I would do with that one is maybe find something to occupy the frequencies in between the kick and the synths because they seemed to take on mostly high end stuff. Then again this type of thinking gets me in trouble a lot so maybe just bring up the lower parts of the synth with eq instead.

@The Other Drug I like the mood of your tune. the bass sounds like a prodigy bass to me i like dig that. I think reverb on the snare every second hit will make the snare fit better in that "traditional dubstep" kinda way, it will make it more tune a little more airy.

@nzym Very Datsiky I think by the second half of the song the riff and the bass gets a little rinsed out. I think start by making a variation bass for a break down with a variation of the drums...it just sounds to repetitive to my liking.
The tunes mixing sounds good to my ears

@hurlingdervish its pretty good, it sounds dark. I really think it sounds thin and adding a lil more sub bass can make all the difference.

Now heres my WIP

@nootropy - honestly this needs loads of work. your kick sounds bad, the only part i liked in ur song was at 1:49 when that extra hat comes in. The synths all need work .. .. when your making something compare it to a released song from a label.

@a new danger- too midrange and muddy sounding. also needs more variety...

@* johnny666* dubstep - wip - your levels are pretty good. everything comes in pretty clear. as for the actual song, its like a trying-to-copy-skrillex and every other pop artist out there.. common man, make something original and new.

heres mine.. DNB for a change

@The other drug: Sick drop man, love the vocal samples. As others have said, maybes add a bit more reverb and get the track to have a bit more air. Love the vibe of this tune man, good work.

@johnny666: i feel like a robot just flew into my ears and lost its shit. Awesome flow man, the soudnds you have work very well together. Only thing i could suggest is adding a little bit more high end to get the sounds to be a bit crispier, they sound a little bit muddy. Top work!

@BaasDNB: Like the beat man, i think the bass needs more work...definatly needs to be louder and i would try distorting a bit and makingit crispier.

Some awesome tracks being posted up here, keep up the good work.

This is my WIP...it went from breaks - some dubstep. It's a collab me and a mate are working on and we are thinking about changing the arrangment up, the dubstep drop is much heavier so thinking about using the breaks parts as the intros and just smashing out into a full dubstep tune. Needs to be mixed down still. Let me know what you think, love to get some feedback.

There are some interesting parts here for sure but the arrangement isn't great and its far too long. It feels like you've dragged out a 3 min tune into 7.30 minutes. Some over your sounds / synths feel a little dry as well but there is a pretty Justice-esque feel to part of this. the change at 1.29 needs to hit a little harder but its pretty cool. The synthesis during the dubstep part is a little better. Overall The track needs better organisation mainly.

BaasDNB
Not a fan of the bassline tbh - It sounds like its being driven / clipped way to much so there's a buzz/rumble thats far too prominent.

johnny666
You've got a lot of cool sounds here. How are you processing your basses? Some of these needs some more bass but there are ways around that. The track feels a little aimless as well - again, i think some better arrangement would help this. You've got some good sounds tho.

The Other Drug
A little repetitive but you've got some pretty cool themes running throughout. Also missing a little of that bass. Some good samples in there and the siren is a nice touch.

nzym
Far far far too repetitive. The mix aint bad but it feels like a long loop ha. Sounds cool tho - just needs to go somewhere.

hurlingdervish
The stuff going on in the highs is a little distracting. Possibly just too high in the mix.

Here's a new one. Just put together a 174 remix/edit of ruffneck bass for my bigger sets. Haven't given it a proper mixdown yet but this is how it sounds so far. Would love some thoughts on how to really bring the mix together as i'll be plugin in my monitors for a long sesh this weekend.

@Burgeamon hard to listen to because i stray from brostep like it's the plague, but as far as the mix goes what you have so far sounds pretty good for a first cut. post updates after the weekend sesh :)

@i11icit some of the synths sound kind of flat, i would suggest enhancing them with compression and maybe some saturation. like the percussion and the writing of the whole track, well done!

@BaasDNB i like this a lot, perhaps bring in more symphonic elements to change it up a little. sounds good though, i dig.

track is in my signature. starting to feel like the end of the road is near, i think i'm gonna add a sample or something to give it some more intrigue. thanks in advance if you decide to give me some feedback!

thanks for the feedback guys. synths are already compressed but i smashed some overdrive / bitcrusher and saturation on the tracks this morning and they sound much crispier and louder. going to to work on it some more this weekend and change the arraangement

@difference: im using some shitty headphones at the moment but i think the bass is a little to overpowering. it's not making much room for the kick / snare. might just need to mix down and get the kick / snare to punchthrough. maybes add a bit more white noise to the snare as well (or layer a clap), it sounds kind of dull. awesome idea, i like where this track is going :). the bass at 2:28ish made my head feel like it was pulsating, i love it haha!

@samkablaam Nice track. Those vocals are cripsy and sweet as hell, where did you get them? Not a big fan of the kick, feel like it has a bit too much high end at the tail. Put sub bass in ur drop and itd sound epic! To the vocal melody i suggest personally somewhat would be amazing.

@FluidMoshun Pretty cool kind of reminds me of the dismantles vocal glitches. should do it more melodic IMO

@cubicle cool sound man diggin it

Thanks for the feedback I am addressing the issues cause i must say i had similar feelings on the track being aimless and bad structured i've already changed heaps and it dosnt sound much like the old demo.
@Burgeamon I process my basses with little to no compression, camelphat, transient designers, chorus and flange and thats basically it to make it simply said, tbh i could rattle on all day but its too early in the morning :corntard:
IF you wanna PM me and we can pick each others brain cause I dig your track I wouldnt mind finding out how you process your sub freqs.

@i11icit thanks for reviewing my track.
Its a good start to your song however i think the arrangement is a little off, it just drags out a little to long for my liking.
The sounds are pretty good I think more processing to beef the bass up and make them a little more present in the mix.
Digging your kick sample

@BassDNB Thanks for the feedback
Everything thing is pretty clear and well balanced.
The bass line needs to change or something it just sounds boring for my liking.

@tecksmusic you should give others feedback first (3 atleast) but i am not gonna lie your start is good but it feels like you made a tune for a synth or something to much at once for my taste keep more time for every idea you have but its mixed quite fucking good

@difference just add some more high end to your midrange i owuldnt add too much though keep it a roller maybe some occiasonal breaks or anything to bring in teh groove again
mixing wise i would say beef everything up a bit but again soundcloud is utterly fucking shit so you have to find a middle way cant really help you with this one just keep at it and add some samples as you said or something to keep it rolling

@burgeamon really heavy hm cant really say anything about mixing cause soundcloud isnt accurate but it sounds quite good only thing is that its a bit to generic hope you dont hate me for this but its not really personal so you might add something more from yourself it sounds good but on the other hand many do that style

It's...Electro-House.
