NEW DUBSTEP PRODUCER!!! Needs feedback on tracks

Post by koch556 » Mon Jul 09, 2007 9:24 pm

Hey all - been ploughing through the dubstep forum and listening to some large tracks. Been making D&B for years but been totally seduced by the dubstep sound.

Got three tracks up on Myspace - would be greatly appreciative if people could have a listen and let me know where I am going wrong or right! (After all - it is you guys whose opinions matter to me)

Big raise to all the dubsteppers out there!

hey man i'm just listening to "raise up"and really diggin this one :D:
will def give a listen to the other two tunes as well!

keep it up!

edit
arf the myspace player fucks it up for me at the moment :|
but i'll come back to this!

another edit:
i got your tunes saved now :)
sounds well-produced everything, and some of the synthlines rly get me.
but from a more ambitious point of view one could also say that your tunes tend to be slightly formula-ic, with the "badboy"/"selecta"vocs, wobblers etc. especially the wobblers
maybe try out some more different vibes?
but still some ideas in there are nice, especially the wobble hook in "raise up" :)

peace,
kazuo

Wow - thanks for listening man! I know exactly what you are saying about the generic sounding samples. These first tracks were me trying to get in to the whole swing of dubstep. Now I know I am heading along the right track, I can start to add my own edge to things.

I appreciated the feedback immensly - you have given me something to think about now, and I can't wait to finish work and get back on the dubstep tip - will let you know when I got more tracks together!

Thanks again matey :)

cool!
yeah i thought constructive comments are what an artist cares most about ;)
however, keep it rolling
i have the feeling that dubstep is really good at encouraging the artists' creativity.

the grind "ladies and gentlemen we have lost radio contact and are currently drifting in space. to your right, a meteor shower. to your left, the horsehead nebula. carbon dioxide is filling your lungs"

raise up "when we found the ship it was cold dead tomb. we found no bodies. the marie celeste of deep space."

lose the "hey hey hey" sample in the grind and you got yourself one almighty track. that sample just lets it down. fat up the sub a touch too.
lose the "selector" sample in raise up and kick that sub into touch. its gotta be huge for that track to work and im struggling to hear anything of it.

maybe boost the snares, make 'em punch or give them some variation as they seem a little lost amongst everything else

would love a couple 320s of raise up and grind. really feeling them.
excellent work mate

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, this is exactly what I needed - good feedback from people who are truly in the know!!!! A real morale boost, I was close to giving up with the elctronic music scene, as I was just getting nowhere... This has given me real encouragement!

I live in Lincoln, which is not exactly famous for it's underground scene, so there is no one else to talk to about making tunes...

I will take all of your valuable comments on board and make a few changes here and there - of course, you guys will be the first to know when the next dubs roll out! I will get sorted with a file sharing site so I can get the 320s sorted too.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks gents!

I'm liking. Nice and crunchy. Chunky.

Old Octamed head, eh? I used to love that program. Oh, and I might have lived in Lincoln at one point, too.

Keep it up.

good shit man.... as kazuo said earlier, focus on your own sound... your production is pretty tight and i reckon you'll be dropping some right party bangers....

good tracks, keep it up
