Telling you to add sub bass is helpful... and I didn't say they drop itself was weak (although it isn't to my taste anyway), I just said the bass is lacking. And it is.

And yes, that's much better, although now you might've added too much bass lol. It's all about getting the balance right, and I don't think you'll ever be able to do that with earbuds. Get yourself some good flat-response headphones (ie. not Beats by Dre or any of that Skull Candy crap) or some decent speakers if you've got the money, and give producing another try. Honestly, you'll never be able to improve past a certain point as a bass music producer with listening equipment like that

In terms of audio equipment you want something that represents the frequency spectrum as it is. Beats by dre are designed to boost certain frequencies (like the lower end) and therefore will not allow you to monitor all of the frequencies as they are. It is a tough descision buying gear to suit you and, whilst we can throw out a bunch of reccomendations, it is down to your own needs and desires. Do a bit of research. Try googleing studio monitors or monitoring headphones. Once you've got the right equipment you will be able to hear where you are going wrong in the mixdown.

OP, By Bass, people don't mean your wobbles, they mean the sub bass that is supposed to be layered with your wobbles for power on a soundsystem. Bass is the part of the tune that makes your body shake without you moving to it, you just feel it. The reason people are drawn on it while critiquing your tune is because without bass, what you're making isn't actually dubstep.
Do you say zerbaman? Or do you say zebraman?

If I were you I'd drop that mid range nonsense and add some simple low/mid synths without billions and billions of switches. To me 'filthy' isn't all about the WAWAWOWOWOWAAWWAW WWEEEE EWEEWEE stuff that changes around every second, it's about proper grimey simple synths that really build up an atmosphere. That snare you got is sick but the mid range just chews everything else up and dominates the entire track. All IMHO ^^

Also, a lot of people hear that loud type of dubstep want to make some and try and build everything around the mid range without giving a thought to whether it adds to the track or compliments anything. Usually it's the little subtle aspects that really make a track good because they build on and compliment whatever the main thing is, whether it be the bass or the beat.

Also don't take this the wrong way, I'm not getting mad just trying to add something constructive. Good luck!

What I find useful, if you don't really have much of a budget for monitors, is to just get yourself some 2.1 speakers for around 50 quid and keep turning the sub on and off to see what the different freqs are like. When it comes to mix downs play the mix down on a range of different speakers, from laptop, car, anything you can find including whatever headphones you have to see how different it sounds on all the different kinds. You'll be surprised how much the sound actually changes, rather annoying actually :(

I do this too, whenever i bounce a rough mixdown i listen to it on about 3 different sets of speakers and 2 different pairs of headphones before making any changes to the tune and then bouncing it again... Rinse & repeat

Especially when you claim it's a 'sick drop' in the thread title. That puts certain expectations on your tune, expectations which were not met.

Kross, for fuck's sake dude, grow some balls. Maccaveli was being incredibly polite and all criticism was 100 % objective, there's no "bashing" going on here.
