Grief Thread

Post by Cubicle » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:27 pm

I know that behind all the funny pictures/gifs/video's and random links there are a lot of stories. We could also name this the 'feel thread'.

I just want to get my story out to anyone willing to listen.
I just lost one of my friends. I've only heard about it 2 hours ago. I came back from the gym and saw I had a facebook notification for a party where they asked someone to spin a set.
He replied with "I'm up for it, if I'll still be alive by then" on the 2nd of June. He replied back 22 hours ago with "Nevermind" followed with a friend asking "you won't be alive by then?" "No".

The notifications kept coming with 'RIP friend' and "you'll be missed". I didn't think much of it. I thought they were all making one good joke to anyone following the conversation.

On my newsfeed I see some of my friends writing even more rest in peace comments.
I remembered a status earlier today by someone saying "goddamnit, someone jumped in front of a train and now I'm delayed for my final exam".

I connected the dots..

A friend, happy and in the joy of his life, committed suicide. Out of nowhere.

If this thread is useless in any of the mod's eyes, feel free to delete it. I just needed to get this off my chest. I have no one to talk to except DSF and I'm sure there are a lot out here who want to get something of their chest aswel.
Thanks

lost both my father (at age three) and my mother (at age eleven), i feel your pain. things will get easier, nothing anyone says or does will really matter. it's down to you as to how you react.
hope things get better for you and your friends soon

Shit Niels, that really sucks. What a horrible way to find out too. I can't say I know the feel, I've never lost a friend like that, but I really really wish you the best.
We're here for you, bro.

@Cubicle, I'm really sorry to hear that man. Figured he meant "If I'm alive" meaning he had cancer or something, such a shame to hear the whole thing was pre-meditated. Breaks my heart man.

Both my mother and my sister have tried to kill themselves (not at the same time!), really fucking depressing. Been through some hard shit, but they're both better now and life is going on. Lots of sad moments, really makes you realize you've got to cherish the good ones.

Thank you Hudson, It's a really rough period now and I think I might use this period for producing something new. It always helped me through rough times.

I'm glad everything turned out great with them. Indeed, cherish your loved ones because before you know it, it's all gone.

Thank you all for the support, I didn't know where to go except for DSF. :w:

That's horrible, I'm sorry to hear your sad story. Unfortunately suicide for some people in some situations seems like the only way out, whilst your in that mind state its hard to see any other solution. It's desperate and incredibly sad.

Hope you're coping ok. :w:

The worst feeling is losing someone who means something to you without saying goodbye to them. We all inevitably go through times like these. You shouldn't puzzle yourself over why it happened, or whether he had a reason to do it. Remember him for the good things, for the laughs he brought, for the ideas he had. Remember them how they would want you to remember them.

Hope you are ok man. I know the feeling, I've lost a few close family members at very bad times. I've also had 3 good friends try to commit suicide but fail. Like someone said, suicide is dark man. You'll probably never know what drove your friend to do it... But trust me, it's better that way.

Feel the pain you have...

My best mate that ive known since school killed himself the start of this year, funny thing was he was out with us all over the christmas / new years period having the best times ever. was almost like he knew what he was going to do...fucking dark...

also my good friend got killed in afghanistan and still not really over that at all such a fucked up world we live in..

you just gotta be strong and remember the good times :4: :w:
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it,

Hope it all goes well fam. I remember the last time I saw my Grandma really vividly... I hadn't turned up thinking it was my last time, but it was pretty clear she was close to the end and I wasn't living close by so I didn't think I'd see her again... despite her not being able to keep the thread of a conversation for more than a couple of sentences normally, we had a really beautiful chat about her childhood and mine, she was even joking around about riding around on the back of old boyfriends motorbikes.. if he's lucid, try and get him to tell one of his favourite stories... it'll be worth it just to see him all excited and enthusiastic one last time.

Love dude. :Q:
