Really feeling those oldskool basslines but unfortunately was mid toddler when they were about wonder if some people could show some of the big tunes from that era. Im basing my idea of what they sound like on these...

If you check my original post would you know what kind of synth the Trevino & the Wadsworth basslines were made on? or are trying to impersonate? Has a distinctive sound different to the 303.

If you check my original post would you know what kind of synth the Trevino & the Wadsworth basslines were made on? or are trying to impersonate? Has a distinctive sound different to the 303.

Could be pretty much any VA with saw and square/pulse waves. If software I'd say Audiorealism Bassline or Phoscyon most likely these days. It's hard to tell if it's software or not unless the filters are being tweaked like in the Josh Wink tune I posted. Software is almost there, but the resonance gives it away as it simply doesn't sound as good or raw which would make it sound a bit different, but in the same vein.

Hardware wise, besides a TB-303 obviously, it could also be a number of old Roland gear like SH-xxx (101, 09...) or an MC-202 which both shared internal parts with the TB and can sound exactly alike (the 202 is the 'poor man's 303' except it's pretty outrageously expensive itself now and was better in some ways). These are still staples in electronic music and always will be. There's also loads of hardware emulations, the best of which is the DIY x0xb0x kit which isn't really an 'emulation' because it uses the same out of production internals of the original that the company either sourced or had custom made. The SCi Pro One is also famous for those sounds in techno and dnb.

I have a few hardware emulations but the x0x comes the absolute closest. For software, either of the 2 I mentioned do a good job, but you'll need to fatten them up with processing. Phoscyon is more of an acid box, I think ABL is more flexible especially the new one.
