swamp81 lost it's attractivity because it got so stale and generic.
Totally agree. "Post Sicko-Cell" (I'm joking by the way) most of the music people seem to rave over has been so fucking dull. I agree about the Swamp 81 thing too, but maybe it's only so boring now because everybody else took it and ran with it.
this
I'm done with swamp81 tbh. Don't care for that label and style. Never got the hype about those Boddika & Joy O tunes. Overly overrated imo.
And what's the deal with all this wannabe techno a la Blawan. It's like Downwards stuff for people who aren't into techno and don't want to like dubstep.
Just as annoying as brostep imho.

Anyway, enough with the negativity on my part. There's a lot of good stuff out there too, and I'd be a hypocrite to say I don't enjoy some of it. I just think it's a shame things went down this route.
blawan isnt wannabe techno.

I'll tell you what annoys me: everyone complaining about every single genre being stale and uninteresting. It's cliché, but if you don't like it then don't listen to it. Or infact, if you don't like it, don't write 400 posts on dubstepforum telling everyone how much you don't like it.

Instead maybe try pushing some music which you find fresh and exciting- or i dunno, make some of your own stuff.
In fairness, this is the correct thread for it. If you don't want unpopular opinions, you looked in the wrong place dude! :)

Yeah but if you're going to make a statement about a style of music you should probably make sure you're using the right producer/dj as an example

bleh, just seems like its everywhere on the forum tbh. It's like a competition to say how much you don't like something loads of people do as if it makes you somehow more genuine.

I fail to see how blawan is "deep"(whatever that means).
Anyway, I'm done talking about blawan seeing how I don't like his music one bit.

It can get a bit grating when there's people that seem to slag EVERY genre haha, I sometimes wonder to myself what they actually do like!

Unpopular opinion: Too much forward thinking music gets written off as a "Burial rip off" at the first hint of a bit of reverb.

Too much music is a bad burial rip off though

You're a fool then as he's better than practically all the supposed good "bass music" at the moment then.

I forgot I have to like something just because the consensus is that it's "good" or "better than x".

You don't have to like it. It's just a shame that you don't like someone that actually deserves the hype for once. It's almost like you're complaining that anything thought to be good by someone is bad

The Underground - A place where things are liked until they are liked by the mainstream.
The Under-Underground - A place where things are never liked as someone, somewhere will most probably like it.

Not saying that at all. Just don't get the hype around some things, and I particullaray get carried away with all this blawan, swamp etc stuff (never said it was bad or anything like that, it just doesn't appeal to me one bit) because it's in my face more than other things. That's all.

Blawan's best work was Fram & Iddy, that 12" was amazing, I consider it a shame that he went 4x4 but slightly "raw" sounding when he clearly has major talent with drums. For that style of techno, the releases on Perc Trax are pretty much all better than Blawan's releases (IMO, of course)

Night Slugs put out turd, it sounds like either 'my first evil grime loops vol.1' or 'now that's what I called unfinished funky 2007'

I wouldn't go that far, they've had plenty good releases but also alot of stuff that sounds like the blockbusters theme tune
