I understand the theory, and at what points in the bar i'd want to put the vocal etc as I do it fine when i'm using my own vocals.
But just to have a better understanding, when people use samples, what exactly is it you look for in the sample?
What is it that makes for a good vocal chop other than the actual words said? are there certain vocal melodies?
Also, do most people just happen to find vocals that are in the same key as their song, tune them or build the song around the sample?
I know some of this is common sense, its more for me to understand your workflow and what you're listening for when doing this.
Would be great if anyone had links to tutorials etc.
Thanks
