I'm new. Just signed up today.

I'm 23. I write for a newspaper in Kansas City about DJs every week in my column. I play a little bit of records too.

I've heard very limited dubstep, but I like a lot of what I hear. The only dubstep DJs/producers that I'm familiar with is local Spider Bigger (are you on here?) and Starkey from Philadelphia.

I look forward to learning more about dubstep. At least with some people I've talked with, there seems to be confusion over grime vs. dubstep.

I must admit in comparison to many dub-a-holics I am kinda new to this, I have been listening for almost a year. I recieved a text off my dad telling me he had read about this new sound called dubstep, so I hunted around on the net and found the bbc documentary plus audio samples, this is where I first heard 9 samurai by kode 9, which amazed me as the sample is from an old film called seven samurai, a great film of which I am a proud owner of.
throughout my life I have been influenced by my dads vast musical taste(rock, punk, reggae, house, hip hop, drum and bass, old, new), as well as my brothers and friends. My dad used to dj drum and bass a bit in our home town of Bournemouth with his mates and luckily for me the decks lived in my room.
I have been listening to subfm a lot, mainly Whistla, Innerlign and Grommit, Nick Argon and Matty G but have expanded to downloading any mixes, shows or sets I can reach.
I have been spending (not wasting) my hard earned bucks on dubstep vinyl purely for the fact that I love spinning the wax.
I know this is a bit of a lengthy intro but then this is what this post is for, no?
If anybody (particularly fom the Dorset area) wants to chat dubstep or anything for that matter drop me a message.

I've only just started delving in to the world of elecronic music with any real depth the last few months... I started with DnB, dug it, tried on some psytrace, dug that, then found my way in to raga-jungle, breakcore, etc..

Dubstep is what does it for me though. It is deepy moving stuff for mine. Muchos impressed.

So, i've been buying some records and getting in to it. A few mates and I trip around Sydney with a funky little rig we call "The Bass Fuh-Nass" (the bass furnace) and make a phat racket wherever we go with it playing out most of the above mentioned genres.

I'm going to learn about DJing and mixing, and eventually move in to producing some stuff. I've got a good knowledge of audio engineering and some cool kit, but this is a whole new world.. It ain't about bands and microphones anymore!

So hooray.

Any other Sydney based dubstep heads send me a PM ! I'd love to get in amongst any local producers and DJs..

hi, i could introduce myself as well. i've been following the forum for half a year, although have been too lazy to post anything.
but i'm starting off.. gonna put some mixes on as soon as i got the time. i live in switzerland. i'm a dj who got a little bored by d&b over the last couple of years (still love it and still playing it though). i was just pissed off by all the crappy jump up pendulum clownstep shit coming out. at the same time the d&b i like didn't seem to develop that much anymore. so i came across dubstep & grime in a recordstore 2 & half years ago, got more interested as more stuff made its way over here. i started to love it. so i began playing the music here, in the beginning it was kinda difficult, also played on crappy PAs, just everywhere i got the chance. but our last two dubstep-nights (with a 2KW sub-box) were a big succes, nice crowd and very good vibes. so stuff is developing over here.
it's cool that there are so many 320 mp3s on the forum! even if the mixdowns are sometimes a bit crappy, it's nice to see how a second generation of producers is working on dubstep and doing something new. there are some real talented guys here. hope some vinyl is coming out from you guys.

I'm a 23yr old Irish guy living in Tokyo. Been in to electronic music for as long as I can remember. I've been producing music - mostly of the synthpoppy, electro variety - for about three years; as of last year I've really got into the DJing side of things (again mostly electro, but I did my first dubstep mix last month and am currently working on another - you can check out some of my stuff, if you like, via the links below).

I'm Alex. Been producing music for a few years now, been DJing a few more. Big in to music of all types.

First encounter with Dubstep was Kode9 on a poster in DUndee - checked out his site, and liked the stuff, but it didn't tickle me at the time.

Recently got in to minimal tech - and from there Dubstep. Think it was an 'Ital Tek' vinyl that pushed me over the edge just a few months ago - now I'm basically a newcomer to the scene, and genre, but looking forward to immersing myself in some quality sounds, as well as trying my hand at some production.

From Edinburgh, so not much Dhbstep up here from what I gather, which is why I'm writing a proposal for a Dubstep & Futurestep night here in the capital.

First post, just signed up.

I'm into every type of music. Been listening to anything i can for years and recently been dj'ing a bit of dnb. Have played drums for nearly 10 years so my roots lie with that but as said i try to appreciate any kind of music. Favorite album of 2006 has to be ventian snares rossz czila etc....Got to love the invention going into that.

Might end up trying to produce some dubstep but really i'm here to learn a bit more about the scene and aquire more music.
