taken from gearslutz hip hop forum, it's really making me want to save up for some analog gear and say to hell with in the box for everything but mixing!

even chad on here said about closing eyes before lol. it does honestly works though especially when im mixing down
depends how you go about it but definitely works in more than 1 way.

The only issue with mixing down with your eyes closed is not seeing what you're doing in terms of adjusting the mix.
Other than that, great idea.

haha yeh i only ever do it when sorting frequency clashes, to hear out what frequency range sounds best to cut. i move either the gain or frequency one at a time rather than both simultaneously when my eyes are closed, works for mewub wrote:The only issue with mixing down with your eyes closed is not seeing what you're doing in terms of adjusting the mix.

Seriously, who wants to look at Ableton anyway? Not exactly eye candy.
But when I'm actually writing and arranging songs, I spend most of my time lying down with my eyes closed while looping the section I'm working on...or sometimes I'll walk around while it's playing, but the point is that if you have a solid musical mind, using it away from the computer is usually more efficient.

I would actually primarily want to mix outside the box. I've done some mixing on a tube desk now and it's a real treat
