Spiral, Still Grey, Vault... Pendulum had some sick tracks, but they went massively shit. And Knife Party... :u: they've done fucking well though

Pretty much what everyone else said. Spiral, Back to you, Vault etc. were pretty cool at the time but they went far beyond lame a while back. How could being a bassist or a drummer in that 'band' be the slightest bit interesting? It was all just a backing track for Rob Swire anyway.

I don't mind them splitting up.

Here's me hoping Verse will all of a sudden start making more tunes.

Trail of 7's gets no love which is sad

Also another planet and more specifically the VIP destroyed

People shit on commercial success far too much. Guess they should've followed the concord dawn roadmap and be one completely irrelevant after a bit of fan faire

It's kinda perplexing.... No one really shits over decoder and substance for kosheen, which was equally cheeseriffic for the most part

No one shits on future cut for producing shitty Lilly Allen tunes or the one hit wonder status of un-cut

Most of the shot storm evolved from the amount of access Doa had to the pendulum boys in their infancy and just became cultural fodder from there

If decoder or the boys from future cut had been staples on doa they'd have caught shit for their success

Before anyone mentions hide you, the actual song was shit the remixes made the tune, same with all in my head. Kosheen should have undone any good will decoder did but people widely ignored it... They were likely (outside Aphrodite) the first to go really uber mainstream

i way preferred that kosheen album to pendulum, utter dogshit imho...and i include hold your colour in that just as much as the other album

maybe its because im old enough to know proper jungle and dnb

Commercial doesnt equal shit either...look at how advanced commercial dnb was in 97'?

Photek? LTJ Bukem?

pendulum were a bad rip off of an already bad sound and then they incorporated more lame cliched guitar elements into it

Photek and ltj really never charted worldwide like kosheen

Even in the MTV amp days photek, who was big, still wasn't mainstream like kosheen was. Not even close.

The amp cd broke photek for the most part but didn't make him known worldwide like It did aphex twin (not saying it made him just broke him major) or like it did for ATR and then getting on the ratm/wu tang tour. Or even the amount of play FSOL got out of it.

Kosheen to me was the first big act to achieve world wide noteriety outside headz. Goldie had done ok... Roni size did ok... None of them were on the radio/in mainstream clubs. Not saying who I'm in favor of just reciting history as I remember it.

Dumb raved chicks sang along to slip and slide and hide you. None of them went apeshit for terminator or inner city life

I'm of course still ignoring shit like Aphrodite and drowning remixes as they were kind of blips

they had some good tunes but swire has always had a bit of an ego and bad attitude
no big loss, just went from cheesy pop dnb to cheesy pop electro/dubstep/whatever minus the best dj out of all of em and losing the other members
kj is off doing his thing with conspirator and honestly him and el hornet are bout the only ones i give a damn with
hopefully verse can get back to making some good tunes again as well
the kiddies can have their knife party till they lose interest with that

You forgot pendusnare

Btw what about Reprazent? Roni size got pretty big with her. No idea about charts, but I used to hear it played outside of raves and clubs. I'd think he's one of the most commercially successful dnb artists around, though even at his worst he's still loads better than cheesy rock n bass.

WOAHWOAHWOAHWOAHWOAH

That's English for "stop a horse".

Kosheen are a fucking laughing stock... I'd argue they've got even less cred left than Pendulum. Especially in Bristol.

In fact, our local music forum Choke used to have the tagline "Rage Against The Kosheen"

Serious? I saw Knife Party once and it was even worse than Nero. Nero being the worst show I have ever seen in my life. Or were
you talking about seeing Pendulum?

Pendulum wasn't half bad most of the time.
Yeah I meant Pendulum. Not been to anything that Knife party have been at yet, I think Global will be in July but I don plan to see them.

Decoder and Substance seem somehow irrelevant to this discussion, maybe as Kosheen, they haven't been producing their best, but they both have been producing for such a long time, and have released some of my favourite records, just mentioning a few:

Kosheen may not be d'n'b's most favourite group, but imo they pushed their popularity when they deserved so and, they did o just in time because if they would have gone down that road years later they'd probably be releasing considerabel crap :dunce:

Kosheen did themselves no favours when they released that Mixmag CD and were heralded as kick starting a DnB revolution in this country...think that got people's backs up even more.
