Production magazine

Post by skoomaaa » Thu Jun 21, 2012 9:23 am

Morning all,

I've searched the bible and couldn't find any topics about electronic music magazines. So my question to you all is: do you have any recommendations? So no books or anyting, I got that stuff. I only speak Dutch and English. I'm really looking for something to keep me updated on the scene, is interesting written and is useful in learning to make great stuff. Also I'm only building music for like 6 months so nothing to deep xD

Thanks! :W:

You can buy the first 4 wub metioned in the bigger AKO's in Holland ;-) Quite pricey, around 15euro last time I bought one, so if you'll be buying each month you'd save alot by getting a subscription. Don't know how old you are, but surely your parents have a creditcard, otherwise your friends.

EDIT: There is also a Dutch mag called Interface, not as thick as Computer Music and the others and it mainly focuses on gear (soft/hard) (p)reviews not so much actual tips on production. Might be worth a look if your interested in this type of thing. It's also about half the price of the english mags.

It's a free ezine now. It used to be one of the best printed magazines on the planet. I still read through my huge stacks of them.

Yea I used to get those magazines in the netherlands now and again if you go to the right shops, but the price is ridiculous, you'd be way better off getting a subscription :)

I have the Future Music and Computer music newsstand app thing on my iPhone. Not too pricey per mag, about 3-5£ I think.

I probably do! Would be happy to look through and scan it if I have it.

Edit: I found it. Definitely bought that one because it had studio tips from MJ Cole.
Not seeing you in the unsigned reviews though. Was it an alias? Feel free to PM or whatever, I'll look more.

Unsigned tune of the issue.

This is one of the most promising pieces of drum & bass to come out of the woodwork in the last year from a new producer. It's ingeniously original and out-of-the-box in comparison to other tracks doing the rounds currently. Think Roni Size and Reprazent; think fresh, live breaks; think blazing bass! Think what you like - this is very different - and with a little bit of touching up it could get snapped up to a decent label.
