Just PM him and ask? Sounds to me like its layered and reverbed. Its done in the same way you do snares, except all the subtle little improvements and polishing he's done that make it stand out.

It sounds like it has a short, subtle reverb with a boost in the midrange. Maybe it's just a good sample he chose

It sounds to me like it is just a pitched down share and reverb with a bit of pre delay,the reverb sounds high passed.
I would think a snare like that would be pretty simple to make,it doesn't even sound layered to me.
