Well he's talking about ableton sets so no beatmatching occurs. Program does it for you
And I think there's some confusion on the term live pa. In the us live pa used to refer to people using hardware in their sets 303 808's synths etc. It's since evolved into people doing these midi keyboard/effects sets. Is t referring to the public address system

yea i wouldn't necessarily call an ableton set a live pa it has more in common with digital djing solutions
Re: Deadmau5 proves he is a tnuc, AGAIN.
Just going by what people put on flyers.... If you're doing anything but djing promoters wanna put you as a live pa.
I used to do a live act with 3 dudes.... 303 bassline and an 808, scratch dj, and a chick that played a triton/vocals... That's what I always viewed as a live pa... But the term is pretty loosely used

Yeah
On flyers and such it's usually billed as Artist (Live) which makes sense not only because they are using Ableton Live probably 95% of the time, but they are also interacting with the music live. If it was Live PA I'd be expecting some drum machines to be making a live personal appearance (and hopefully actually be plugged in).

I always thought that live pa was for live original material as in a performance and it was a DJ set if you're playing other people's tunes.
But yeah, I agree that the terms are all being very loosely used and its all starting to blend together especially with the whole laptop and controller thing.

Yeah basically, original material or improv was always called Live PA. When I used to do it in the 90s/early 2000s we just put 'live' or 'live improv set' sometimes when the promoter asked. These days it would be confusing.

Live PA is very confusing these days, but I don't really like to think of Ableton sets as such.
Even more confusing are the bitches who are strictly out for that Live PA dick.

im sure there was a period where people playing off Ableton were actually listed as playing an 'Ableton Set' ???
