Pressing Issues is taking submissions for our 2nd release: ISSUE002 :: Deadline - Friday August 3rd
With the sales of ISSUE001 still going strong, the label – YOUR label – is ready to accept submissions for the voting selection process for ISSUE002. In attempts to learn from our mistakes, we have (with some legal help) compiled a short list of rules to make the process smoother and get the releases out more quickly to show the talent that this forum holds.
What is the deadline for submission?
You have from the date of this post until Friday August 3rd to submit your entry.
How do I get my song to you?
Please send a link to an online file hosting service (such as divshare, senduit, etc) or to your own website with full versions of your songs to: demos@pressing-issues.co.uk
What format/length should it be?
The tracks should be full-length version not clips or snippets. They need not be in high quality 320 or WAV format but clean enough for us to narrow down to the final 10. The tracks MUST be available for download by the selection committee - we cannot accept streams, timestamps in a mix or myspace/virb/etc links - unless the files are downloadable from those sites.
What are the basic rules for submission?
- You must be an active member of Dubstepforum.com
- Your track must be produced by you or, in the case of a collaboration, the primary producer must be a member of the forum.
- During the selection process, if another label approaches you to release your song, you MUST alert us that the track is no longer available for selection so that we do not step on toes.
- Once the selection process is complete, you will be notified if your track has been chosen for voting. If you have been chosen, the Temporary Internet Rights Agreement below comes into effect.
- If chosen, you will be asked to comply with said agreement via email.
- If chosen, you will be asked to provide a full mixdown of your track in WAV or lossless compression format.
TEMPORARY INTERNET RIGHTS AGREEMENT
It is the Artist's responsibility to assure that the Submission is not held in interest by any other record label. Pressing Issues holds no rights to the recordings until the committee has narrowed the choices down to the ten (10) songs to be published to the dubstepforum for polling.
Once the committee has chosen the songs for the voting process, the artists will be alerted and given a period of ten (10) business days (2 weeks) to accept or decline entry into the competition. Failure to communicate assumes a YES answer and the Internet Rights Agreement below comes into effect.
Upon agreed selection of an Artist's track for the voting process, you grant Pressing Issues Recordings the exclusive, royalty-free perpetual right to exhibit, display and otherwise distribute your submission via the Dubstepforum website (www.dubstepforum.com) for the sole purpose of polling forum members to determine a winner who will ultimately have their content released commercially. You understand that during the voting process, Pressing Issues holds temporary but full license to the recording and you agree not to solicit or accept solicitations for the song to appear on any other record label.
You acknowledge that you shall not be entitled to any monetary compensation in exchange for the Company’s exercise of the rights described above. These Internet Rights are in effect for the duration of the voting process (2 weeks). The votes will be tallied by the committee and checked for duplication or abuse. Once the winners have been decided, the Artists of the winning 2 songs will be alerted and will enter a recording contract for the manufacturing and distribution of the songs. Submissions not chosen for publication are released from any and all responsibility to Pressing Issues and the Artists are free to solicit other labels with their entries.
In the event that a song has not been chosen for publishing but is being considered solely for digital release, you will be approached with the option of being included in the Pressing Issues Digital Catalogue and the appropriate contracts will be drafted and forwarded to you.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask in this thread or send us a message at info@pressing-issues.co.uk
Big up all crew producing and pushing the sound!
