How to make my songs 'richer' and sound more 'full'!?
I'm getting so pissed with this, every time I make a song, it sounds nowhere near as good as Swedish House Mafia, or any other big name artist!? I don't know why, but for some reason, it just never sounds as good, could someone please give me some pointers? :@

One thing I noticed straight away is that your kick has no mids.

There are many ways,
Duplicate tracks and pan one left one right.
Use stereo wideners on bass, pads etc.
Use sutle reverb to stick everything together and make the track sound fuller.

That won't make it fuller, just louder.

Yeah, I was pretty confused by my kick, where abouts in the mix should it be peaking? I have the sub end rolled off up to 100hz so it doesn't clash, then I have it boosted +5.5dB at 106Hz and at 10,000Hz boosted by +15.5dB. Is this okay? I can't make it sound punchy otherwise :@ It also has a compressor running "Type R Kick drum" (Logic native compressor, using a preset) and a limiterjrisreal wrote:One thing I noticed straight away is that your kick has no mids.

Will try this now man, thanks!
Just another quick question, should I have a sub constantly going non stop during the 'drop' and have my drums with everything under 100hz cut off, or should I have drums with sub and sidechain it to the sub, so they don't clash? 'Coz every time I've done this, it hasn't sounded very good, even when the Attack was right down!
And with my synths, during the drop I have two, what kind of frequencies would you reccommend the 'drop' synths roughly to be sitting at? (I know you can't tell exactly, but typically, what frequencies would you expect them both to be peaking at and is it the same for both, or one for one and another for the other one? haha) Thanks!

Re: How to make my songs 'richer' and sound more 'full'!?
Midrange sits between probly 400hz to 2khz so this is where you would want your bass. Where they would peak depends on the bass itself and the note being played.
To figure out where the bass sounds best stick an EQ on it and bring the gain up with a small 'Q' and move it along to find where it sounds best boosted.

I think that using saturation/distortion effect/plugin as send (with ability to dry/wet mix it) is a good start
also parallel compression; heavy compress it and add only 20% - you can add depth and make song sound more 'full' without destroying transients
it's a very good way to add mojo to the song.
personally I use it in mastering all the time:)
good luck!

The whole song sounds great to me!
Only thing I'd say is at the very end, fade it out a little slower and it's perfect(MY OPINION OF COURSE).
I actually really love this track!

It's not the best practice to be boosting frequencies especially +15 db of boost.VirusTI wrote:Yeah, I was pretty confused by my kick, where abouts in the mix should it be peaking? I mean it's up to you what you do but it's probably not the type of habit you want to create.
