Edit those radio shows...eh ???
Edit those radio shows...eh ???
...instead of posting up the whole link
cut em up in soundforge or whatever and post em up as little links but only what you think are the seriously heavy tunes cos a 2hr radioshow of megamegs sux arse if you're only rockin 56k modem stylez like us poor fuckers and it takes half a day to DL...
...the artists/labels will get feedback, the specific tunes will get more publicity awareness and everyone will know what the fuck you're on about instead of saying
what is the name of that tune at 67:39 on whoever the fucks show
how bout it ???

I think if you're going to do that, do both man, keep it whole..... because its the whole essence of the set maaaaan
I understand, cos I was rockin 56k dial up till a while back, the thing is, certain people will feel particular tunes, some will prefer others, who decides what gets cut? y'know?
People just need to whack up tracklists and that, so folks know what tunes are what....

Re: Edit those radio shows...eh ???
this is stealing, in the context of a radio broacast giving away tunes is fine, I think this is generally accpeted in a simlir way that promo DJ mixes are, yeah? I think leaving broadcasts intact should be both a moral and artistic prerequisite for distributing other peoples music for free.dubmugga wrote: post em up as little links but only what you think are the seriously heavy tunes
The first pirate I heard was a DJ Defiance set from Manic FM, I D/L'd it with a 56kps dial-up at 7-8 kps, it took forever but it blew my mind, all those tracks cut from their context would have meant nowt.
dubmugga, Why do i get the feeling that one day your gonna end up as a judge on NZ's version of "Urban Idol"?
What makes you think that?, 9 outta 10, dem'p3s will just end up buried on hardrives along with all the other shinola the kids r downloading these days. Pirate broadcasts are miles ahead, culturally/aesthetically, of most forms of electronic expression, if kids don't get into in its 'natural form' why bother?dubmugga wrote:...the artists/labels will get feedback, the specific tunes will get more publicity awareness
Big Big up boomnoise for all the time and effort you already contribute, your a legend mate, mashing up da inntanet. Big up blacklay, I'm lookin fwd to that N-Type set.
Hold tight the internet users !!!

...it's amping the tune you think is worth it rather than sifting thru a whole show to hear a couple of killer tunes
cut to the chase and big it up...
...and as far as urban idol goes
here''s what i think...
you can't polish a greasy turd but you can mould it into something that doesn't resemble turd...
...chances are it'll still stink though - RingoKid
radio shows at the quality they are broadcast and ripped at serve no more purpose than to educate the public on future releases and who's making the big noise..doomstep wrote:What makes you think that?, 9 outta 10, dem'p3s will just end up buried on hardrives along with all the other shinola the kids r downloading these days. ...they are perfectly disposable and not worth doing anything more with than listening to and discarding til the next show
or as you say buried in a hard drive and forgotten...
...if a track is isolated from the mix, big upped on a forum and creates a buzz which is reflected by a number of users, then that provides better feedback and A&R to a lable/artist than having it buried in a mix with no traklist and chances are the trak will generate more interest than the show which will be discarded til the next show
if kids want to share it around on soulseek or whatever maybe even cut a dub burn it CD and play it out, well major props to the artist cos it shows their shit is doing the damage but it'll still sound like shit as it ain't the full quality and they will get more free publicity/awareness ...
...producers who are just a one trak pony and can't afford to lose a tune or two to the file sharers ain't gonna last that long anyway and should stop being so protective about their shit...
...it's just music, spread the word, no one can take something that you aren't prepared to give away for nothing
just like i reckon gigs should be live to air feeds as well...
...if you don't want things to change then don't do anything different
maintain the status quo if you want but i'm all about evolution...
