Anyone interested in a 10 seconds guest performance?

Post by estudioblost » Mon Jul 09, 2012 10:44 am

Hi friends!! ;0)

I would like to ask for some help

I play in a local spanish band called And Finally. We play electronic rock and I have recorded/mixed/produced our first album at my home studio.

We're also close to sign with an independent spanish label which is interested in our music but I still have a few things left to do in some of the songs.

The case is that on one of our songs, I feel there is a little instrumental part that need an extra 'push'

It's just a fragment with a duration of only 10 seconds which I think (just my opinion) it sound kinda rock/dubstep.

So I was thinking that I could introduce some dubstep wobble bass line or similar stuff that could give a little more strenght to that part

The problem is that I'm quite bad at creating this kind of stuff. I've tried to create some wobble bass lines learning from some video tutorials over the internet, and also tried to use some wobble presets from different plugins, but no luck at all. Everything end up sounding bad, unprofessional and not original.

my question for you is,....Do you guys think it'd be easy to find some mate over here that would like to make a little guest performance playing some dubstep sounds on our song?......I'm not looking for something difficult but something simple, easy that could match that part and fill the gap I think there's in that part of the song

If anyone is interested, please, feel free to write me a private message to talk about it and see what happens!!

finally, excuse me if I seem too bold for asking this in this forum and sorry if I'm not in the appropiate board to post

I am new to this dupstep world, and I have little idea on how to move correctly when asked this sort of thing ;-)

Thanks a bunch in advance, friends!!

Cheers
Carlos ;-)

Hello and welcome :)
sounds like your doing well! You shouldnt have a hard time finding someone to help on here but you post did make me think of this.. I dont know what your budget is or if you have a keyboard player but ...

Also there are some Sample packs that should offer some good standerd wobbles.
Goodluck!

Hi Fbac!!.....thanks for your reply, friend!!

yeahh,....the UltraNova sounds very very nice!!!.....nice one ;) will have it in mind when starting to prepare the live gigs.....yayyyy

anyway, I think I'll keep searching for someone who brings some fresh point of view to our song. Someone who's much more into dubstep than me, 'cause I'm more into rock ;-)

If I can't finally find anyone to do the thing, I'll try to do my best with what I got. Maybe samples or some factory preset from any of the plugins I have

Thanks again mate!! ;0)

I could do something for credit. You don't have to use it.

Hi again guys!!

Just in case more of you want to give it a try, here you can download the instrumental fragment of our song.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/f4vm96p4cd1sp ... 201%29.mp3

Tempo is: 102 BPM

I'm interested specially in the first 10 seconds, where the drum pattern is slower, but whatever you want to add in the rest of the fragment is welcome, of course.

Feel free to add whatever comes to your mind, but notice that we'd like it to be not much complicated. Maybe some low, dark, aggressive wobble bass line along with some other noises that are often used on dubstep productions. Sorry for not knowing the exact words to describe the elements of a dubstep production...haha...newby here ;-)

Cheers!!

yeahhhhhh mthrfnk,...many thanks.....hahah

As you already said,...BPM is 102 ;-)

...hey,...what you did sounds really cool!!!!!! ;0)

but I'm afraid I'm looking for a little different approach, something not that sharp and that maybe does not alter the structure of the song. Perhaps some wobble bass line a few octaves lower than your example. Feel free to try that with your example, lowering the pitch of that lead, but not reworking the intro ;-)

don't know,..something like that :-)

I'd like to say that my intention is to mix that 'dubstep' sounds a little in the background. I do not want them to be too sharp and "in your face" because this song is oriented more towards the Rock than Dubstep (at least in this part).

On the other hand, the other members of the band then will have to decide if they like what I'm trying or not, so I want to be cautious and not do anything too extreme.

Thanks a lot for give it a try friend!!!!!

i dunno but i have a feeling adding another bassy element would be too much your main riff is kinda a dubstep bassline already maybe just take your riff in this part a bit further like effect chains or sth make the beat half time if you want a dubstep feel to this part but tbh wobbles wouldnt fit too much here

The reason I split is, as Bud said, the guitar/bass is already heavy - I tried adding another wobble/saw bassline and it got too bass heavy and very muddy. It might work if you remove some of the bassiness or having a less distorted guitar.

Also just a tip - personally I think you need to EQ and mix your cymbals slightly better, at the moment they sound a little too harsh and loud - I know it's rock, but that's just what I think personally.

Nice track though, was fun messing with :w:

you could post your solo bass guitar riff that would make things way more interesting but if you want to try it yourself maybe go for voxengo boogex or some similar hard tube distortion plug and add some filth to the top end of your riff or let a saw follow your riff really sublime so it adds this synthetical touch imo wobbles etc are overused in to many genres you would be way better of making it sublime and classy

Thanks to you too MaZa1. I think I'm going to keep things as simple as I can while preserving the spirit and strength of the song.
