Studio Monitor Suggestions
I'm looking for something from 50-120 bux for both speakers, and I know this is low end for producing music, but I'm not producing any major tracks at the moment, I'm just messing around with ableton. I also need a midi keyboard to make recording easier. Here's what I've found so far, if you have something better please tell me, oh and if anybody knows any good subwoofers that are on the cheap lemme know.

Re: Studio Monitor Suggestions
I guess those would do, if you aren't taking your mixing super serious...but in that case, just mix in headphones. You can get some really good cans for a bit more than those speakers and probably way flatter. Like the sennheiser HD280 Pros or the Shure SRH440's or SRH840's or something by Beyerdynamic.

Re: Studio Monitor Suggestions
Sorry, but what exactly does "flat" mean? Like is it referring to the notes being flat or???
Re: Studio Monitor Suggestions
Flat means that all frequencies in the audible range hit at the same volume...therefore making the frequency response graph a FLAT line. A completely flat response means the output is 100% true to the original sound.

Re: Studio Monitor Suggestions
Ah, now i understand. Also what subwoofer would you or anyone else recommend? Again I want something cheap that is a decent quality speaker.
Re: Studio Monitor Suggestions
For that price may as well hit up pawn shops or garage sales and find an old hifi amp with speakers. Or save your money for some KRK's.

Re: Studio Monitor Suggestions
I read a review of some m-audio monitors. They did pretty well, considering their price. Can't remember exactly which ones they were though.

Re: Studio Monitor Suggestions
yeah i know the m-audio ones, they have a heat problem though, but besides the speakers i posted, is the midi keyboard okay?
Re: Studio Monitor Suggestions
Borrowing the thread. I know KRK are some good budget monitors, but how good are they if you would compare them to a bit more expensive monitor, say Adams or the smaller Genelecs? More bang for the buck or do you get what you pay for?

Yeah in that range either some 2nd hand KRK 6's or some nice headphones.

I mean I would go with KRK R6's, but they're 200 a piece. I mean i don't care about buying buying used gear, I just need to know that the gear will still work for a long time after i buy it ;o. Are there any specific websites anyone can recommend?

Re: Studio Monitor Suggestions
For a total of $120 - you will be much better off with a good set of headphones rather than anything you could get in that price range for speakers.
